Penton,
I don't know your background but I can tell you are probably the most respected insider on this site so I feel that this question should come to you. I feel that downloadable content for HD movies is not an option. The ISP's cannot bring their price point down to a level where most people have high speed. Also, Time Warner just announced a pilot program where customer's will be charged by how much they download. Do alot of people feel like I do on this issue? |

What is the reasoning behind the last remaining 2 studios not going at lest neutral? Is it that there is still a contract in place with Paramount? Does Universal really believe that hd dvd can turn it around with players that cost as much as an upconvert?
85-15 has to be pretty disheartening if your on the hd dvd side. It has to be a contract because nothing else seems to make sense, especially when you hear of hd dvd players being return in large amounts. |

I’ve only got time to respond to a few posts so I’ll just pick the ones I’m in the mood for on this present page.
If anyone asked me anything important since my last posting, I’m not purposely ignoring it, I’ll try to go back and review things I missed at a later time, just not now. |

![]() The general feeling (at least from the Blu studios) was actually a feeling of relief rather than ecstatic exuberance as many here felt following the Warner announcement. Relief in the sense that this is the beginning of the end for the losing format and industry folks toiling in the trenches are/were tired of the format war. The remaining hold-outs have already expressed (in private discussions) their eventual intentions as to seeing the Blu light. No worries there, it is just a matter of time. As to people asking questions about retailers…..when?, what can nudge them into more aggressive Blu support, I can tell you that the retailers do not want any consumer confusion regarding high-def optical disc stuff esp. players, in regards to competing formats when the next big holiday season begins (Thanksgiving and beyond). They will position themselves in that regard at their own pace, accordingly. |

Damn, does anyone here remember that movie?
Warren Beatty played a huge stud. I mean one moment with the daughter (not his) and the next moment with her mother. Do you remember the under-the-table scene with Julie Christie? Last edited by Penton-Man; 01-18-2008 at 11:55 PM. Reason: carnal knowledge clarification |

You know, speaking of the male actor (Warren Beatty)…………. Annette and Warren are the sweetest couple that one could ever know. He’s got a dry sense of humor and she’s got a perpetual smile on her face. We had a competition going there for awhile as to who would build the largest Four Seasons solarium in our backyards.
The owner of the company that did the work on both of our solariums is a huge Arsenal supporter and he always kept me updated as to Warren’s plans. ![]() Needless to say, I’ve got the larger and nicer solarium. ![]() |

[QUOTE=Esox50;527592]I see this, "If I was a shareholder" stuff a lot. Basically, HDM revenue is a drop in the bucket right now...
Still, 85% IS 85%! Numbers too LARGE to ignore. I'm sure Paramount has to be going nuts thinking about how many MORE Transformers discs they could have SOLD if they had at least remained neutral. And what about Universal and the Borne movies? Drop in the bucket now, but just like a small leak in a dam, it is bound to get bigger in the very NEAR future! |
