I’d love to see the first 2 Transporters on 4K. The series doesn’t exist to me after those.

Too bad the first 2 belong to Fox. If they were from LionsGate they would probably be out.

Oh how I love this absurdist, OTT action nonsense. A day 1 purchase. Please give us the sequel, too.

I wouldn't hold out hope for the sequel.
Um, you do know this was shot on worse for some stuff right?

Yes... um, I DO know Crank was shot on 'film' for some stuff. Only the slow mo shots because the Sony F950 couldn't do high speed. So the shot of Chev walking toward camera and the descender rig shot. Only about 20 seconds of Crank 1 was shot on film.

I was talking about Crank 2, which was shot using HDV 1440x1080 4:2:0. By 2008, they didn't need film for slow motion... for those shots in part 2 they used the Sony EX1. But there's no real additional detail to be pulled from it. It wasn't shot with any extended dynamic range in the source footage.

The original CAN benefit from HDR, but it'll be interesting to see how much because Neveldine/Taylor burned the look of Crank into the footage as they shot it. So I don't know how much latitude there is to pull from because they didn't really take advantage of the extended dynamic range the F950 could offer at the time. Gamer and Ghost Rider 2 would be better samples as both shot on RED.

The extended cut isn't a director's cut... the film's running time is 87 minutes. In many territories they film needed to run over 90 minutes so they added a scene where Chev pounds nails into his leg to get the running time to 90. That cut is nothing more than a theatrical running time obligation and not something N/T really want in the film.
I wasn't getting sassy and I know who you are, but pulling the "Do you know who I am" is a little sassy.
The first had some prosumer stuff DV NTSC mixed in also for the handheld rollerblade camera man shots.
I have seen the longer version advertised as both I don't know where the directors stand but it does not add anything I need, I was more adding to the silly ire that people bytchin about only theatrical cuts make it to 4k.
Plus knowing LG this will be from a ratty filmout anyway, so god knows what it will end up looking like source quality or not.
Gamer would look rough due to the ton of filters they put on in post.
GR would be a better looking film, despite the RED.

Case in point:

There's no prosumer DV in the first Crank. The rollerblade stuff with Mark on Crank 1 is all Sony F950 with the deck rigged to a backpack. That why they went prosumer HDV on the 2nd, so they could literally throw the cameras around and if one broke it would only be $3k. If there's anything else you want to know about Crank or Crank 2, feel free to ask me what I know, not tell me what i know.

Is that a bag of chips on your shoulder?
I was not attempting anything no idea why you went fully hostile but cool, I'm not bothered.
They didn't use the XL2 in the first film?

It'll make for an interesting comparison with the BD, but given Lionsgate's catalogue UHD pricing then I'm still gonna pick it up.

I already have the double pack with the first movie and the sequel. For you guys who don't own it, I guess this is a good excuse to pick it up.

I wish they'd make a third movie.
