Gonna try to grab a copy at Best Buy during lunch tomorrow. I have a $5 certificate to help with the cost so yay.

My Best Buy pre-order has been sitting in pre-order status still so I just cancelled Braveheart and Gladiator, and hope the store next to me will have a couple in stock. They managed to deliver Saving Private Ryan the Saturday before release, not sure why these two titles are having what seems to be shortage issues.

getting so antsy for this tomorrow. Don't think ive been as stoked for UHD catalog release as much as this yet. My store shows a ton in stock as of now, and just reserved one for picking up along with my BP steel.

I figured your store would be behind me since you’re in Seattle

Edit: my nearest store doesn’t have any available for pickup! Now have to make the decision to chance it getting a copy at opening, or just going to the one about 15 miles away that does allow store pickup.

Most stores in my area take till 11 or midnight, but for some reason, my closest store, which is also largest in the northwest, usually lets me store pick up reserve at 9pm pacific time. Been like this for years, and i don't know why, but sure do love it

Dolby vision is only 10 bits on UHD, not 12 bits ?

UHD disc is clearly more detailed but colors looks somewhat strange (maybe it has something to do with SDR conversion from HDR/Dolby).

Yes. The current Blu-ray was sourced from a dated 4K scan.

No, I don't think so it was an HD Master probably from a 2K scan, no 4K

No it wasn't: it was reported to be an HD master approved by the DOP

I see. Maybe other folks know more. Looked pretty rich anyway for it's time. One of prettier transfers.

Man, this UHD presentation looks ****ing amazing. They cleaned up debris too, looks like. Not enough lovely-lovely Sophie Marceau in comparisons, though.

On the comparison you made (the girl one), there's debris/dirt remains are visible on UHD. It can clearly be seen on BD. So the source appears to be the same. BD was OCN scan too.

Damn, I didn't intend to buy Braveheart day 1, but now I'm itching to do so... It's just too pretty.
