If the studios could stop propping up Rotten Tomatoes like it's the definitive authority on what's good and what's not, that'd be great...

Watched this last night and really liked what I saw from the transfer. I thought the Dolby Vision/HDR looked great, not burning your retinas type of great but used sparingly/effective when used. It's a dark movie for the most part, so when light bulbs get turned or theres fire it really pops and is vibrant.
Love the color palette of this movie. When scenes take place outside, like at the stream, it looked very colorful and vibrant. On the opposite end, shadow detail is tremendous in the indoor scenes as well as the dusk/night scenes. Great detail and inky blacks, with no crush in site. Lastly, there is a nice layer of grain that adds to the atmosphere of the movie. This is a great looking disc and I'm very happy with it. It's not a reference disc PQ wise, although I've heard the Atmos is reference, but is still very, very good and well worth the coin. |

So as a blind buyer, although I’m certain I’ll enjoy this film, is this a film necessary for UHD? I’m asking purely cause the BD can be bought for £11 and the UHD for £18. Big difference considering that a new release/made film on BD will look pretty good through a new 4k TV&Player.

Yes, the UHD Blu-ray will get you closer to the filmmaker's vision. There are scenes that are more detailed in the UHD version. HDR is subtle, but again effective in dark scenes with spot specular highlights. |

Love Signs. It’s one of the better experiences I’ve had at the movies and it still holds up today.

Interesting opinions here. I thought this was one of the better uses of HDR I've seen recently. Good realistic apl with highlights looking very nice, bright, and realistic. Flames and light bulbs all had some great HDRy colorful brightness to them.
