Glad to hear that! Critics love crapping on Roland Emmerich but I find his films to be a lot of fun. I will be seeing this tonight.

I really want The Day After Tomorrow, 2012, and especially Stargate to be released on 4K Ultra HD.

Hey now, this is the guy who brought us the Matthew Broderick Godzilla, so I'm sure he's up to depicting one of the most important events of the 20th Century. At any rate, I'm sure it'll be a nice companion piece to Michael Bay's Pearl Harbor. <rolls eyes>

Here's a novel approach. How about the seeing the movie for yourself and judging it on the merits of the movie itself? And not based off of two different movies. You know, not do an apples and oranges comparison. Hard, I know. But it could be worth your while.

Cant be any worse than pearl harbor and if it is, I can always go watch Tora Tora Tora, from here to eternity(which is a much superior romance film about the event) or even the 70s classic of Midway

Don't forget IN HARM'S WAY. Has some cringe-worthy moments where the camera pans but the optically printed smoke doesn't track, but there's some good stuff in there, miniature work and music by Goldsmith.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would.

Does make me think of the strength of that generation. My Grandfather passed when I was young. I think one of my regrets of that is not missing the chance to hear what he did - and what incredible stories they would have been - but rather missing my chance to thank him for doing it.

I like Emmerich's films in the majority, but 2012 and ID: Resurgence are turds IMHO.

This is a movie I really want to like, but there is a tendency to turn these kind of historical films into over-the-top action flicks. I would prefer to see a more documentary approach with the special effects serving the story, rather than the story being used as an excuse for the special effects. The real historical events have enough drama. They don’t need embellishment.

Haven't seen this but I went to the cinema to watch Parasite today and when I was in the restroom the guy in the urinal next to me looked over and said, "What a movie...". I was like "wtf..." and then he said "Midway..." and shook his head and whistled. Definitely blew his mind. I didn't bother telling him I was there to see Parasite because he was already rattled enough as it was.

They didn't embellish. It was almost all story and drama.
