Will I like this?

I like horror, slow builds, not having to see everything and what you can't see will sometimes be one of the scariest moments. I also like horror movies that creep into my psyche. Will I stay up the entire night looking for a killer clown in my backyard?

The reviews are really good so I'm inclined to blind buy it, but I won't if there's excessive gore. On occasion is fine, but that's it.

It's bloody and relentless, almost overly so. That's what modern horror films give you: very little left to the imagination. If it had toned down the violence and pushed the drama more, it might have been a real Stephen King classic.

One of the best moments in Poltergeist that always creeps me out was the one with the least amount of visual effects... the toy clown in the boy's bedroom.

The same with The Shining. The haunted hotel room with the lady in the bathtub is sooooo well done.

Thankfully not all modern horror is like that.

I'll hold off. My son-in-law is going to buy it on BD when it's released. I'll borrow his copy and make some people sit with me through it. LOL

If you can name a few that allow you to use your imagination more so than buckets o blood or cheap jump scares, please let me know.

This isn't a horror movie. It's a coming-of-age story that happens to have a sadistic clown in it. I'm not much of a horror guy but I liked this quite a bit, so take that for what it's worth. I can't imagine anyone actually getting scared by this movie (same way I feel about the 1990 version, too), but it's a good movie.

I was living overseas in the military when the first came out so I never got around to seeing it. The good reviews piqued my interest.

I couldn't disagree more.. This was bloody? Like in one scene.

Movie was great and one of the better movies or Stephen Kings movies in a while

I couldn't disagree more with his post. Watched it twice in the theaters. I loved the charters and the movie. Worth a pick up

There is nothing excessive about the violence in this film. It's direct and brutal in some moments, but never gratuitous. Great cinematography, editing, script, direction, performances from child actors (Sophie Lillis is the clear standout), sound mix, and music. I have seen this about 13 times now. By the time Act III starts you hardly realize a couple hours have gone by. See it in theaters if you can, but absolutely will be a rewarding blind buy.

I'm waiting on an official announcement from WB to see what different offerings there will be.

[Show spoiler]"If you lived here you'd be home by now. Come join the clown, Eds. You'll float down here. We all float down here; yes we do. *super creepy clown laugh that crescendos with heavy LFE if properly calibrated shakes the theater*"

Personally, the music playing with the rising red balloon that reveals Pennywise's frown turned to creepy grin will become a classic moment in time.

Exactly. That guy made it sound like it was a Scream or a Saw movie.

There's the opening, the bathroom scene, and the beginning of the third act, and that's really the extent of the bloody/gory imagery in the film.

Are you serious? Outside of the opening scene this movie has much less violence than what you seem to be describing. There is most certainly more drama in the film than there is violence.

If you like John Carpenter, then yes, you will most likely love this. This movie is by far the greatest horror movie we have had in a decade and that is saying something since this year has seen Get Out.

The music is so god damn amazing and intense that it feels like it came out of the Resident Evil remake.

The suspense, the tension, it is all there. It has excellent surprises you didn't see coming and the acting from the entire cast is outstanding. Not to mention all of the characters are likable and you hate who you are supposed to hate.

Is the 4K release going to include the extended cut or are they going to pull this bullshit of it including theatrical only for 4K and extended on the BD?

I would really hate if this were the case. Theatrical only for 4K just completely undermines it as a premium format. If I'm buying the best quality version then I expect it to include the extended cut on-disc as well.

Do we have a list of 4K releases that lack extended cuts on the actual disc?

Watch the extended cut be either UHD-only or BD-only.
