So for color is each film strip coated in a dye, or just standard B&W copy film that has been exposed to a color filter like the three strip Technicolor process?
The stock used for seps specifically is a particular type of B&W panchromatic separation film, the camera negative is exposed to this stock using a different gelatin filter each time to separate the red, green and blue layers onto individual positive records. Each is then dyed its respective cyan, magenta and yellow colour. Wrong! To create a new dupe negative element they contact print these using an RGB light which then assigns the complementary colour record (CMY respectively) onto the new negative. I'm honestly not sure what they do when the B&W seps are used for restoration though, whether each is scanned through its respective colour filter or they simply scan and overlay the colour to each sep in the computer.

Three-strip technicolour is slightly different because that was a negative process, the light being split in-camera as it was recorded onto three B&W negatives which were then printed to a special "matrix" stock. These matrices were then treated with the requisite colour dye (YCM again) and combined during printing to make dat glorious Technicolor! (These chemical dyes are not the same as the organic dyes that were used for single-strand colour film which is why the latter was/is so prone to fading.)

Didn't Warners release the box set and the original as a separate digibook on Blu-ray to appease everyone? I'm not sure how far apart that was though as I was late to the party for blu-ray.

I want to see the Burly Brawl in HDR as well as The Freeway Chase, and seeing The Chataeu Battle should look great too!

Unfortunately, it wouldn't help the terrible script.

I can understand not liking the third one (although I do), but the second is probably the one I've watched the most. First is far and away the best, but the second is the most fun IMHO. Lots of great action makes it easy to throw on whenever.

I've got the BD and recall it looking rather soft and grainy even for a BD. So, I don't expect this to look great; I imagine that it'll be like the UHD transfer of Spider-Man, which is super grainy.

BD for the first movie is excellent, even with the tint. UHD should be a beauty.

Regarding "higher standards," you have some pretty low quality films listed in your collection.
I mean, some of us just don't like it. It's not end of the world, just differing opinions.

Yeah, WB have shown they can do both good and bad when it comes to that, but I'm hopeful the Batman Begins/Nolan situation was its own separate thing and we wont see any more of that.

The grain should be finer given that it's anamorphic, but there should also be a significant number of VFX shots with locked-in grain/resolution.

You take the Blu Pill; you stay in SDR land and see whatever you want to see...

You take the UltraRed Pill and I show you how bright the HDR rabbit hole goes!
