Seriously?! What on (Infinite)Earth(s) would be the purpose of a hit-piece targeted against a cult-y fan interest? Hit-pieces are designed to accomplish a political goal. What use is it to influence whether or not fanboys daydream of an alternate edit of a movie in the privacy of their home theaters?

There's no grand conspiracy here (and no money in one). If you look at the basic evidence (timelines and a general understanding of the way movies are made) with a modicum of emotional distance, you'll see that the essential facts of this story are pretty much impossible to refute. There is no "Snyder cut" for the simple reason that Snyder never had time to make one. And the reason I'm wearing a t-shirt today does not involve alien abduction or ancient Mayan rituals.

The fact is a Snyder Cut exists. If you want details, go read what Jay Oliva has to say.

Is/was the Snyder Cut near completion? No.

Do people want to see it? Yes.

Does anyone expect WB to shell out money to complete it? No.

Do people expect to see it anytime soon? No.

That's it. There's no cult. There is only fans asking for the release of Snyder's intended version of the film, even if it's incomplete. And yes, I do know there are a few bad apples within the fanbase, but they are so very few and far between. There's no need to vilify the fans over a request.

Do you pay attention to his posts on Vero? He's clearly still invested in the film, frequently posting BTS stills from scenes not in the theatrical cut. He's also vocal with his most ardent followers and keeps dropping hints about the existence of the Snyder Cut.

This provides another issue with the new WSJ article, the writer forgot to actually research what he was reporting on. Or worse, he did but what he found didn’t fit his narrative so he left it out like his interview with Jay Olivia.

Or alternatively;

He's sharing BTS images he thinks fans might enjoy.

He's a massive troll and is trolling fans about the existence of the Snyder cut (probably contractually forbidden to confirm or deny it's existence).

Or, more likely, he's just posting images from Justice League's production since he is no longer under a NDA stopping him from posting them (James Gunn is sharing similar BTS photos from Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 on his Instagram at the moment) and fans are reading way too much into it.

It would be interesting to see how Brainiac would be presented, but Darkseid is the villain I really want to see.

Brainiac was my first pick, but he was done well on the Krypton TV series, so now I want a live-action Darkseid.

Cavill just doesn't want it to happen until VFX tech gets a little bit better

Well you wouldn't need lip CGI in Snyder Cut...

Joking aside it's not that the tech can't do it to a decent degree, but they simply couldn't do it well in the time that they had to turn it around, and I kinda doubt that it went to ILM or Weta anyway, you know?

No that was only during Whedon reshoots.

I can’t see the point in taking about the ZS cut till it happens. I want to see it but It’s all just speculation in my book.

The only cut I care about is one without that gawd awful bit before the movie with Super-Shrek. It looks fugly and it's pointless.

That also makes sense since Cavill has heavily implied he prefers Whedon's take on Superman over Snyder's, and probably has no great interest in seeing a version of the film he liked less than the final cut

No, the point of the Snyder Cut is to realize the original script Snyder had in mind, however flawed that may or may not be on screen. All of that footage was already shot by Snyder, so the only thing you would need is CGI on shots that didn't get completed, but that could certainly be expensive. Obviously yes Snyder would have done reshoots himself as well, but he didn't, so that wouldn't be what the Snyder Cut was. Although he could use some of the existing reshoots if he felt they were helpful, as supposedly he did have a say in them as well (although I doubt he would have included all of them in his cut). Even the Donner Cut of Superman 2 used some footage from the Lester reshoots, although I believe that was more an issue of some of the footage being missing.

He wanted reshoots they were planned, plus ADR plus GCI plus new marketing.
It would cost a fortune they won't get back.
He had an assembly cut and it would have been rough with scenes that didn't work due to performance and more.
And a lot if missing scenes that he wanted to make it his vision, they were planned for the reshoots.
The only reason the assembly cut of alien 3 works is how little FX was needed, and the ADR was reasonably cheap.

There's still some stuff from the reshoots in the Alien 3 assembly cut as well.
