love to see that in 4k detail (although I have a bad feeling it's almost certainly 2k DI) but regardless even a trace more detail never hurts and I think this one would be awesome in HDR
Tron Legacy was literally shot in 1080p so there's no prospect of a "true 4K" master BUUUUUUT we should know by now that that's not the end of the story when it comes to 4K HDR, it could indeed end up looking seriously stunning.

I got this at Walmart yesterday, and when I went to add it to my collection here, I noticed my copy has a different UPC than what's in the database. Anyone know why that is, is there anything different about the Walmart copy? FWIW, I grabbed it off a normal shelf so it wasn't a 'Black Friday' version. It does include the BD and digital copy, so it's not like it's an obvious stripped down version.

provided it features the stunning IMAX scenes which was exclusive to the 3D disc.

The only thing stunning about Tron Legacy was Olivia Wilde. That movie makes RP1 seem like Chaucer. To be fair, even the first Tron was hot garbage story and acting wise except for the early use of CGI (augmented by cell drawn hand animation).

Love me some Tron Legacy. Tron 1 is okay as a historical curiosity but boy the movie is slow going. Wouldn't say no to either in 4K though, particularly becuz Tron 1 was shot on 65mm.

Eh, there's nothing "IMAX" about the way the movie was shot whatsoever, they framed it for 2.35 on the Sony F35 which has a 16:9 1080p sensor (actually the same supersampled RGB CCD as the Genesis) and opened up the mattes whenever they felt like it. It did/does look fantastic but that's got bugger all to do with IMAX or even 3D.

I'd prefer it if Tron Legacy 4K was in a forced 16:9 for the entire movie. Not a big fan of theatrical ratios especially when my TV's black levels are poor & it makes my TV look smaller when I don't even use it as normal tv

I'm aware that I'm derailing the thread now, I think if RPO had commentary I would've bought it to give me an alternative excuse to watch it again from start to finish

well she was stunning but the film was cool and, honestly, I thought better than RP1 and way better than the original Tron (which was generally kind of ridiculous, it was just famous for the first major CGI stuff and the cool light car race)

it's an absolute crime that Disney cancelled out the sequel
really wanted to see where it was going after than end

Had a weird thing with this disc. To cut a long story short, I bought a Sony ubp x700 a few days ago that I had to return (kept freezing) and exchanged it for an LG UBK90. When I popped this disc in my new LG machine to test it, the menu for this disc was different. Completely different. On the Sony machine it was a moving image menu with a loop of the opening scenes of the movie, on the LG it was a static image with the options on a bar below.

Not a massive deal but I've never seen anything like that. Anyone experienced anything similar, or understand why this would happen?

Was one of them connected to the internet and the other not? Only thing I could think of.

Sounds like the player defaults to a simple menu when something doesn't work as it should.

Both were connected to the internet with a wired connection, so it can't be that. Only thing that is different is the player itself - very odd!

This is what I kind of suspected, I was just unsure/unaware if there was a BD menu standard. Must be that different models of spinner have different menu capabilities, something that never even crossed my mind.

So at $15 on Amazon I don't think I can pass this up.

I'm sad that it doesn't have a commentary track, but Spielberg never does commentary tracks, so I don't think any future releases (if there are any) will contain one either.

I believe that the only difference is the streaming redemption sticker on the slipcover. The Walmart version features Vudu (a Walmart company), while the other retail version features MA. No idea if the redemption slip inside the case is different or not.

Do you have any persistent memory installed in either player?

You mean as in a cache? I don't have the x700 any more so couldn't say but looking at the LG I don't think so. I don't have any USB flash memory or HDDs plugged in either. The weird thing is that this is the only UHD disc that I tried in either player, and like I say it gave me a totally different menu. Not really something I'm bothered by, but I am curious to know why!

Me too. Tried RPO on my Sony X800 with no external persistent memory installed and got the motion menu, it even player-resumed from where I left it before, so while the Sonys may be advertised as having no persistent memory I think they've got some sort of cache in there for sure. I'll try it on my Panny later, the OPPO has memory internally installed so I couldn't turn that off if I wanted to.

From what I've noticed over the past few years, if seems like Walmart has an exclusive deal with Warner Brothers as 99% of WB titles sold at Walmart has a slightly different UPC than what other stores carry. Not sure what the difference may be other than the fact that Walmart's version of WB titles come with VUDU InstaWatch.

Ordered this on Amazon for $15 last week during the whole Cyber Monday thing.

Just got notified that my package got lost in the mail, and my only option is a refund. They apparently can not/do not have a replacement. Really aggravating.

It's the 3rd package that got lost in the mail for me last week.
