And most DCPs aren’t anywhere near 300GB these days anyway unless they contain both 2D and 3D versions.

They do their own in-house compressed encodes of the same home video-oriented masters that we get on disc, most of which would still fit onto a conventional disc with room to spare (pro tip: they include the size of the file on the info screen for whatever movie).

I think the misunderstanding MAY be coming from the Scorsese quote on Kaleidescape's home page, where he mentions "uncompressed 4K". I bumped on that quote myself -- I mean, it's Marty... but then as you read further you uncover the truth. Just a hunch that's what's causing confusion.

People should still dig a little deeper if they’re gonna start banging on about it. Snake oil pretty much describes their product in tech terms, it has its fans amongst the chosen few who can afford it because it’s got a bunch of movies not on disc in disc-level quality, but this “uncompressed” thing is sheer nonsense aimed at the terminally gullible, which may/may not include Mr Scorsese.
