For all we know, it may not be an exact duplicate of the original mag track either. For the record, I admit it does sound more full with deeper bass tones, but we don't know if that's how it sounds on the original mag track any more than we know where the 2007/2014 lossless Shout Factory mono is from either. I don't have a horse in this race, regardless, just playing devil's advocate.
Criterion would have done the work in a professional studio environment with proper studio speakers. I doubt they would care how the resulting product sounded from TV speakers, if the track sounds good on professional monitors it will sound good on every other speaker source. Listening to the comparison videos should confirm that to be the case and you may have listened to that file using computer speakers or earbuds.

We do know that Criterion went back to the Original 35mm Magnetic Master Soundtrack as it is clearly stated on the packaging art, Criterion for the most part has been open and honest with their audio and video sources. Of course we will never know what the flat master tape(s) sound like, but from what I can hear I believe Criterion faithfully captured what was on the tape and performed minimal work on it. You can tell the source had very minimal if any NR & EQ tweaks done to it because the dialog and music/effect scores sound full and balanced. And there is obviously less compression/limiting added to the source because there is much more dynamics, dimension and spaciousness in the Criterion Mono Mix compared to the 2014 Blu Ray.

I think they try to but don't promise it. Pretty much everything I've ordered from them this year has shipped two weeks early except King Kong. Now most of those orders took a week to actually get to me but I don't blame them for that.

Thank you, it's been forever and a day since I've ordered directly from them and the anticipation is starting to get it me, haha

Either way, they'll get here when they get here

When Michael was in the bushes do you think he was just going for a pee and Laurie just caught him finishing up from her window?

It is, but it's not in Illinois. Producer Debra Hill was from Haddonfield, NJ.

Haddonfield is a real town in NJ. It's about a 10 drive from downtown Philadelphia.

Debra Hill was from Haddonfield, NJ and the fictional town of Haddonfield, IL was named after where she was born and raised.

I think Michael was just trying to enjoy the April freshness of Downy fabric softener from those freshly laundered sheets that were out on the clotheslines. That's totally irresistible, after you've been huffing bed pan odors every day all day for a decade in a sanitarium. He was embarrassed for his sheet-sniffing, and had to duck out of sight. That was the beginning of the end...All downhill from there. Still won't show his face, to this day.

I would re-buy this if the TV footage was included in one of the cuts like it was on the old Anchor Bay DVD instead of just the footage alone & not incorporated into the film..

It is. It’s actually included in two cuts in the new Scream Factory release. It has the extended version and the TV version.

Found this pic online of a page from David Gordon Green’s book The Legend of Halloween. As you can see he got Laurie’s “boogeyman” line wrong. To be fair the book doesn’t include the scenes of Laurie and Tommy talking about the boogeyman, but why not? Those are important scenes for the theme of the movie. Also, it seems a bit random that she just asks Loomis “Was that the boogeyman?” without her ever talking about the boogeyman previously.
