Yeah, the grading is ugly.

Also, film isn't that good, really.

I've crapped on it just a bit in the past, but I must say that I enjoyed it more this fourth (?) time than I can remember. Still has things that don't jive with The Matrix for me. The Second Renaissance is still pretty silly. (The robots have better credit ratings, lol.) But it's very well paced (Flew by for me this time.) and I enjoy the different interpretations and art styles. I forgot how much movement Beyond has! Also appreciated Matriculated a little more after seeing Chung's Aeon Flux three to four times. But it's one of the weaker movies in this anthology. I wish the Star Wars anime anthology was more like this. Can't stand most of these recent designs. Anyway, it will be part of every Matrix series watch for me going forward. Will revisit Reloaded and Revolutions before the year ends.

Oh, I can't remember ever seeing these credits, listening to this end theme. Any time I watched it, the credits were always after each movie rather than one long scroll at the end. I liked it. Made the pacing far better.

Of course you can justify it with the story, but I'm sure it will be boring to watch the same plot structure/story beats and the same scenes. It'll feel somewhat pointless. So I'd rather they didn't design a story that needed that kind of excuse. I never took the cycle theme of The Matrix to literally imply that the events would repeat so similarly. When you're doing something for nostalgia rather than for the sake of the story, which I'm sure Warner Brothers are, it's a problem.

I saw this yesterday and while the video is good, sometimes great, there were things I couldn't understand, especially given the scores I keep seeing, so any feedback is welcome.

During an early scene when Neo is asleep and text starts to appear on his computer about following the white rabbit, then he wakes up and there is a very visible green tint on his face, like the little facial hair he had was a greenish color.

the review on this site says:

Outdoor daylight scenes inside the "data" world are almost naturalistic, except for tiny giveaways like the greenish highlights on the faces and hair of Neo and his cohorts.

So could this have been intentional? It was the only time I really noticed this, I don't think there were other instances. It was really only his face. Maybe my 2016 OLED (65e6v) was not able to resolve it well?

Next, some scenes inside the Matrix had an unmistakable push into overly saturared territory with Neo's face being without a doubt far more orange than usual. This was visible during the scene where Morpheus and Neo are inside this 100% white space with the TV set and red armchairs. It wasn't really visible on Morpheus face, but on Neo it really stood out and I kept thinking it wasn't natural, this couldn't have been right when usually it was far more natural.

My player is Panny UB820, TV is 2016 Oled 65e6v, setting was dolby vision HDR, oled light and contrast at 100.

Anyone seen something similar?

Well after seeing the latest trailer for the new movie today, the color grading of this UHD makes a lot of sense. Fits with the new movie very well.

The 4K trilogy set was on sale for $30 in October for a day. These kinds of titles seem to have random flash sales. I see them pop up on the BD.com site tracker.

Different than Matrix Reloaded too.





I didn't mean to make a point about the mirrored image, but it's like seeing yourself in a photo and all the flaws and asymmetry of your face jumping out at you more.
