It's not even from my review, it's from a comment (pre-release) warning people that it's going to look very soft and very hazy compared to what people wanted/expected from this movie (or anything on 4K disc, for that matter). And I reiterated that point again when other folks had watched it and commented about that very aspect of it e.g.

BTW I totally called this reaction a month ago, I didn't know it'd be you specifically but you've stepped up to the plate regardless.

But, as always, there's still a difference between a good transfer of a troublesome source and a bad transfer of a troublesome source, and STM has one too many problems in terms of both the source AND the transfer itself - though none of these source problems apply to the underlying aesthetic as shot by Mr Unsworth and I never said they did. It would however be disingenuous to call the 2018 transfer "bad", that is true, but compared to virtually any other major studio transfer of a movie of this age it is indeed "deeply flawed in spots".

To that end, Jim Bowers reported that Warners aren't just regrading the movie but are actually doing a brand new transfer from scratch. And if that does turn out to be the case then that's all the vindication I need that the 2018 just wasn't as good as it could've been. It's not that people can't still enjoy it, y'all do y'all, but some people called out all these niggling issues at the time. I can't even recall another example of a major that's done a new 4K HDR transfer of a movie when they already had a 4K HDR master of it, so redoing STM from the ground up would be a significant move.

I know I've had my fair shares of movies I've enjoyed or even transfer I've been okay with even when others said they looked like shit and I know I've been annoyed to hear everybody complain but me, but.. Idk what's so bad about this since, no matter how good the 4K was for you in 2018, we're getting an even better version, an improvement. I'd be happy even if I had to purchase again. Why are we giving others stern looks just for stating the obvious, that the 2018 4K was problematic even if watchable?

FYI it's got nothing to do with STM and everything to do with a certain someone's long-standing dislike of me. Whatever I might've said it must be contravened by this person, usually done by completely misunderstanding what I've written or just indulging in sheer whataboutery. If I say something's good they'll say it's bad, if I say something's bad they'll say it's good. It's so precious

I figured that out, it was pretty damn obvious, but still.

If you have both admirers and haters, it's usually a good thing.

no it's when you get people banned for disagreeing with you and attack them with and your followers..remember 2001...I endured a multiple of yours and your followers attack and got banned for defending my opinion of the disc....right in the middle of doing some selling and helping other members here on the forum..don't act so innocent..you know what you did and you know you had help

Not sure what your goal is in always being flippant/contrarian toward Geoff, but he's certainly not responsible for your getting banned on that occasion.
