I stopped by at lunch and they didn't have it even though the website said In Stock for that store.

Some edge haloes/fringing here and there, several are just chromatic aberration (again, them lenses weren't great) but others are more electronic looking. People will inevitably say it looks amazing, it never looked better, it always looked a bit rough (which I've gladly acknowledged), just as what was said about Batman Begins' UHD, but for me the same applies as with that movie: delightful when it's on-song, an eyesore when it's not.

Had a quick skip through this.
Regarding the new mix from the 6 track, I noticed during Summer Nights that when the guys sing "tell me more, tell me more" it's pushed a bit further back in the mix compared to the original stereo (pre 1998). They weren't quite as forceful. I may have my centre speaker too loud.I didn't have time to mess with my settings at the time.
I also don't have rear speakers at the moment but I wouldn't of thought the backing vocals would be mixed to the rear, unless someone can verify.
Also, when the intro cartoon starts, the Grease tune doesn't come in quite at full volume until the cartoon Danny turns up the radio. So yes, this is obviously based on the 6 track and is slightly different to the original stereo but thankfully a world away from the 98 mix

Having said this, its a HUGE improvement over the 1998 mix. It sounds big again and the silly foley effects are gone The tunes sound more or less like they did originally. I'm just not sure yet if I prefer it to the pre 1998 original stereo which still sounds wonderful on my widescreen vhs.

I found a local Target with a copy in stock and they held it for me. Picked it up this afternoon. It's currently on sale for $19.99 and also currently on Target's Cartwheel app for 15% off. After an additional 5% off for using RedCard the price was $16.14 plus tax. Score!

The backing vocals are mixed in as phantom screen channels between the L/R fronts and the centre, they don't come from the centre directly. This is one of the main differences with the 70mm mix. Other little moments have more direction too, like when Kenickie and Rizzo are in the makeout spot and the radio advert for pimple cream starts out in the front left, moves into the centre and fades away to the right as the camera moves across the cars. The pre-98 mix has the radio ad placed firmly in the centre channel, although the 1998 mix keeps the directionality of the 70mm.

It went away for a while, but now it's back with a vengeance. Still, this is what happens when a new format comes along: expectations are reset and joe public currently thinks he's going to get a pristine picture with no grain, no black bars and 137.2.69 surround sound. The studios can only resist the urge to tinker so much, so while we got the black bars and the superbly un-fcuked 70mm audio with Grease it's like they had to fiddle with the grain to even the score. You can't have it all, as they say. Unless it's a Sony remaster, of course...

I think i may need to lower my center speaker, thus making the fronts louder.Im not very tech savvy but i will have a tinker.
I also hear the detonation of Kenickie's lighter in Greased Lightning (probably the only foley i dont mind). I thought this was a 1998 thing as it's absent on the stereo track . Either they mixed it in way back in 78 for the six track or its been recently added.

I would recommend picking up an SPL meter or maybe even an app on your phone could work to get the volume levels balanced between the speakers.
