My thoughts exactly. Both Kong and Rampage are really fun movies, but Kongs edges out. It's rounder and a better film overall.


As for the UHD, watched it in HDR only on a Sony XBR 75XE905 (X9000 in some territories). I sit about 7 feet away from the 75" display and it's a great disc from Warner. To keep it withing their portfolio, I'd say it's a cross between the Tomb Raider and Kong UHDs. It has the filmic look from Kong (but with much finer grain), mixed with the shinnier/brighter look of Tomb Raider. Definition is also somewhere in between the two of them.

I can't comment on sound as I watched it really low (late night + baby daughter).

This is a very nice looking disc. Although a 2K DI, it looks very sharp and detailed. Nice contrast and a great sense of depth. The colors are muted for sure, but that doesn't detract from the image quality.

Both!! They are both fun movies, but if I had to choose one it would be Kong.. With Kong Skull Island and now the new Godzilla movie, Godzilla vs Kong may be on of the highest grossing movies of summer 2020.

Literally no increase in detail in the 4K transfer (2K DI) and the 1080p transfer. Wow, I never bothered to compare the transfers of 2K DIs across the two formats; without HDR, 2K DIs on UHD Blu-ray are ripoffs.

I know that the colors are muted in the second UHD, but that's due to the HDR being converted to SDR. Don't mind it.
