Finally seen this was awful imo.
The characters were so f-king annoying being very over the top running around the park A lot of them were like the annoying Tina character from Halloween 5. The music was terrible too. The kills were good though and the park itself was really cool |

I know one of the writers on this so I'm coming from a slightly biased place even though I'm objective with all my criticisms...
It's fun. It's not Hereditary, The Witch, or It Follows in telling anything unique with the genre but it also isn't another brainless franchise sequel/reboot. It's fun. It's a fun flick that people could put in once a year and just go with the ride. It has issues but for the film it was, I wasn't expecting the Palme d'Or. Sometimes, when it comes to the most fun genre in cinema, people take them too seriously. With that said, most of the people that died in film were annoying as ****. Horror trope. I would have done a couple things differently but none of these aren't things I haven't told my friend already. |

Really fun movie and the setting was everything. So much going on and small details from classic horrors everywhere (the killer clowns and more). Was wondering if the fest/carnival is a real thing anywhere or they really built everything just for the movie? I would buy tickets!

I bought the 4K+Blu-ray combo of Hell Fest from Walmart during lunch. This is exciting. I enjoyed the film at the theater.
Most of Hell Fest was filmed at the White Water amusement park here a couple of miles from where I live. It was filmed there during the winter off season, of course. Here’s my movie content review that I wrote a couple of months ago... Six college-age friends celebrate the Halloween season by spending an evening at Hell Fest, an elaborate haunted house theme park where visitors brave their way through a series of darkened mazes while costumed characters and gory props jump out at them. On this particular night, however, an unexpected and horrific addition to the proceedings, in the form of a silent figure in an eerily blank mask and a hoodie, choses his first victim. As our protagonists roam warily through the first maze, one of them, Natalie, witnesses the imposter killing a girl, but shrugs off the event as merely another frighteningly realistic attraction. During the hours that follow, her friends disappear one by one. The 2018 horror movie, Hell Fest, which was filmed here in Georgia, is a stylish and engaging throwback to the early 1980s golden age of slasher cinema, and it draws solid momentum from the claustrophobic quarters of its setting. If you have ever shelled out cash to negotiate one of the lucrative haunted house mazes, like Atlanta's own Netherworld, that populate big cities, then imagine spending two hours in such a place, and you will have an idea of what you are getting into here. The clichéd lead characters, while likable, are paper-thin, the premise lends itself to an excess of false jump scares, and there's a shortage of intellectually-challenging plot developments, but the special effects are outstanding and the production design is first-rate. Hell Fest will not make you forget Tobe Hooper's superior 1981 slasher classic, The Funhouse, which set the standard for park carnival mayhem, but you are in for an intense ride just the same, and you could do a lot worse if you are looking for a fun way to kick off the month of October. A brief appearance from actor Tony Todd, who is best known as the title character in the 1992 horror movie, Candyman, is an effectively entertaining touch. |

I just bought this on Google Express from Target w/ 30% off code (TARGET30) and Redcard discount for $18.54. Worth a flyer @ that price. I wanted to support the horror genre on UHD Blu-ray, also.

The pacing was uneven at points which made a few parts of the film drag even though its well under 2 hours. To me it's a 3.5 out of 5 film, definitely fun and maybe something you would revisit down the line if it catches you the right way. |
