Saw this movie in IMAX. Super loud and fun. I will pick up when it drops to $7-8 on a BF sale like Spider-Man homecoming did as well as the Greatest Showman etc. last BF. Wish I could’ve seen it in Atmos. The sound quality of IMAX was crystal clear, but piercing at times.

Will be looking to import the 3D for this but i loved the movie so i'll probably get the UK 4K as well. My only concern is that this is a David Leitch movie and his movies don't always look amazing on 4K (going by Atomic Blonde which looks decent but nothing special and what i read about Deadpool 2).

I thought Atomic Blonde looked great in 4K especially given the cold color palette but it was still strong as far as detail. His movies as well as John Wick have these neon colors that stick out & I thought Deadpool 2 looked better than the first one & well only seen John Wick Chapter 3 in 4K but that one is seriously flawless as far as quality. I have no doubt Hobbs & Shaw will look great for not having the less style Leitch’s films are known for. Action wise it’s there but hardly the neon colors with H&S.

To be fair i haven't actually seen Deadpool 2 in 4K i'm just basing it off what was posted here. Atomic Blonde looked decent but a little soft (IMO).

Leitch only had a hand in directing John Wick 1.

You need to read that again son, where did I say he directed JW3? I said Deadpool 2 looked better than 1 & so did Atomic Blonde, haven’t SEEN JW1 in 4K yet.

No worries, it happens. I bet the scenes in Hawaii will look gorgeous in 4K.

I'm hopeful that the studio overrode him and Sela and said "don't do it like Deadpool 2"

Yeah, I was hoping they'd do that. Some Universal UHD titles have had this offer(Jason Bourne, Secret Life of Pets 2). I pre-ordered it late last night, but I still haven't received the code.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I've done the digital to disc on Vudu but wasn't aware Best Buy gave out codes ahead of time with purchase. I actually had a pre-order in place with them but cancelled and re-ordered to get the MA code early. They sent code 10 minutes after I ordered. Will watch tonight.

The base layer is 4000 nits? That's very strange for Universal, maybe even a first.

[edit]

Nope, not a first. I was checking Fate of the Furious this evening and it also has a 4000 nit base layer.

It’s been a while since I’ve gotten a Steelbook on day 1 (or a Steelbook at all for that matter), but I’m going to go for this one.
