If you're talking about the Limited Edition, it's going to be relatively hard to come by, in a retail setting. I doubt this was a huge printup, so these LE's might sell out quick and not be replaced.

There were so few details in advance of release that I just bought a Limited Edition box and a normal 3D set via BestBuy.com with the intent of returning one or the other once details surfaced. I'll probably keep the LE based on the photos and possible collectibility.

On a related note, I stopped by a Best Buy store last night and noted that they had no copies of the LE version. The blue shirts knew nothing about it either.

You need to have a 3D setup to play the 3D disc. You can then turn off 3D mode on the TV and the disc will play in 2D

Unfortunately the PS3, will know your tv is not 3D inabled, so it's best to get the 2D... or both if your Going to upgrade in the future.

I picked up the 3D version but it cost me $46 before taxes while the 2D version I found for $20 and $25. What's up with the 3D version being so expensive ?. I live in Canada, and realize titles cost a little more up here but this one was jacked up way high. The LE version can be ordered for $70 at HMV where I bought the 3D version. Only place in town that had it..

I watched the 3D version last night. Overall, it looks very good but I have to say U23D is still the best filmed in 3D concert I've ever seen. Switching back and forth between 2D and 3D, there's rarely a major difference except in scenes that are well-lit and usually focusing on Lars and his kit which often do show nice depth.

Also, I was a bit disappointed that Robert Trujillo's bass is pretty low and weak in the mix (see Seek and Destroy and Orion as prime examples) although the overall sound, especially the guitars is well spread across all channels giving the band a nice dimensionality in the live clips. I wish the live audio was a bit more punchy and in-your-face...you really have to blast the volume to get the sound to open up.

The backstory with the kid/roadie's adventure is utterly pointless and silly, I wish there was an option to just watch the show straight through.

Can any hardcore Metallica fans tell me if the few other live Blu-rays they've released the past few years that feature comparatively better audio mixes or is this the top o' the heap?

I doubt this was a huge printup, so these LE's might sell out quick and not be replaced.
