I thought that as long as you're watching it using a 3D player/TV, the 3D can be turned off on all 3D discs, so as long as you have a compatible setup, a 3D disc is 3D and 2D.

For those without a 3D player and TV, a 3D disc is unplayable most of the time. That's the issue most people would run into, and it's the reason why 3D-only versions are useless to people with 2D setups (including myself).

In my setup, I can just start a 3d only disc in 3d, pause it then go into my video processor and disable 3d which gives me just the left or right stream (2d). Some discs I can also disable through my Oppo blu ray player by simply hitting the pop up menu button, but this only works for titles that don't bring up a pop up menu when you do this like Transf 3.

Worth a shot.
Not possible, as the 7.1 setup uses my 2D Pioneer Kuro display. I tried to force the menu using my Oppo, and it did not work.

I was assuming you were using a 3d display in the first place, but yes, you cant force it if your display is not 3d compatible to begin with. They really should have just included the 2d as well in the 3d set. It's a non issue for me as the only place I will play either the 2d or 3d is on my 3d projector (in which case I can force the 2d by disabling 3d support), but I can see how this would be annoying in your situation for example where you only have a 2d display to work with in your 7.1 setup and cant force the 2d off the 3d disc because of it.

But not on a bluray player or PS4. I was hoping to use the UV copy as a 2D replacement since the set doesn't come with one. That way I could stream on all devices I own, and not just 2.

The PS4 doesn't do 3D BD's yet, but what I was meaning was I like having a 2D version for when I don't want to haul out the glasses or just want to watch a quick portion of a movie. I can bring up the VUDU app on the bluray player or PS4 and skip to a section. Comes in handy.

It's DRM free, you can easily get a .MOV file into a format a Blu-Ray player or PS4 can play.

Sure you can bunkz. You have something someone else may want, so I don't think anyone would have an issue with it.

Listen, if I didn't have one, I'd pay a couple of bucks for it. Quality is quite good and it's worth it.

UV allows me to stream on any device I own, not just a couple. It's nicer and easier all around.
