The caps look great: nice all round improvements in colour especially skin tones, and lovely refinements in detail across the board, I bet it sings in HDR/DV too.

If they had slapped the correct mono track on this disc this was be a absolute stonewall no brainer, as it is, its starting to make me waiver about waiting for an eventual original mono re-release.
To quote another horror classic...why you do this to me lionsgatey?

The skintones look a tad healthier than before. Without looking like the girls have a ton of makeup on that you got with the THX/2007BD masters.

Tyrok said it is going out for next week, for whatever reason. Should be at both, but you have to ask to get it from the back at Target.

Saw this today at Walmart and they all had slips. Wondering if its going to be a tough find later since people are saying some Amazon and BB discs came w/o.

I ultimately passed on this once i saw that there was no digital copy and it was the blu version w less bonus content. Anyone know why they went this route?

It has different framing and slightly more natural colors from the caps posted, so I’d say it’s superior to the 35th anniversary edition.

We all know I have the lack of saturated color like some do and some don’t. My disc has played well *most of the time* on the xbox. I’ve had multiple times where I paused and skipped through scenes and had it lock up with an error.

Anyway, I just noticed today that my display is displaying the HDR logo when the film starts, as well as if I manually check the input info. My display is not showing the DOLBY VISION logo like it always does for all other dolby vision content.

I have no idea why my disc is being flagged as HDR instead of Dolby vision, but I’m strongly suspect that it very easily could be the issue.

I’m running the most recent firmware on both my display as well as the most recent beta firmware on my xbox.

Edit: Quote from CNET July 2018:

So, No Dolby Vision support for 4K discs on Xbox. Most likely the culprit. I assume that my disc being improperly detected as HDR instead of Dolby Vision could definitely cause an undesireable viewing experience.

Sans the mono audio issue, I will refrain from commenting further about the PQ of this disc until I’m viewing it as intended. My apologies for any confusion.
Just as I suspected.

You need to get yourself a Dolby Vision capable player. The Xbox One X is correctly displaying the movie in HDR10 (so long as you've got HDR set to "on") but Dolby Vision will look better on your TV.

Skintones look a bit warmer (in a good way) in that one shot. Grain better defined with a bit more detail. I like it.

Pre-order from HMV got dispatched today. Going to be a long wait until Monday but it's going to be so worth it. Lights off, total darkness and volume up. I can't wait.

It’s less a Dolby flagged as HDR10 issue as it is a tone mapping issue. HDR10 looked fine to me.

It was. It started out as October 1st, then bumped to the 15th and then went back to the 1st.

Got this at Walmart today. All copies had slips. At checkout, I had to verify my age (51). LOL.

I assume the digital copy is due to a rights issue. As for including the old blu-ray, it has different special features than the 35th anniversary edition. I am guessing they included the old one to give the most special features rather than have the same features on both discs, which I personally appreciate.

Either that or their just trying to get rid of the old discs

Imagine if they couldve saved the pumpkin from the opening.
Coated with something to preserve & put in a glasscase.
Thatd sure go for some $$ at auction.

That was fun! My PC monitor isn't professionally calibrated, but I scored 15. I think I could get under 10 if I spent a bit more time.

Not quite Geoff D-Vision™, but quite good.

Thanks. First try. No idea if it's supposed to be difficult. I do know people who would fail miserably though.
