Generally Vudu gives you the extras when you redeem the code from the retail package.
It's not. It's a separate item on Vudu. iTunes, many times, gives you various cuts of a film from just buying one. Vudu doesn't treat movies the same way.

iTunes also has a ton of legitimate bonus features that Vudu doesn't.

It's going to be terrible, but I really, really want to see the original full cut of Superman IV. At least the story won't play out completely incoherently

I'm hoping they'll locate the original studio masters for Bill Conti's "The Right Stuff" while I can still hear well enough to enjoy it.

The original theatrical cut of Superman IV is 87-90 minutes.

I take it you are referring to the never released "2 hour cut" -- ?

I'm pretty sure the SE was finished on film. It was considered for at least a limited theatrical release in 2001 (I saw the test release in San Antonio). However, it's likely that dupes or IPs were used, so a 4K version probably wouldn't look much better than the current HD master.

But yeah, the Donner Cut of II is stuck in HD.

Isn't the original theatrical cut of IV what we've had all this time?

Yeah I think he meant "original theatrical cut" as in it was test-screened that way before getting hacked up for it's official theatrical release.

The Original Theatrical Cut of TQFP has the deleted scenes, some of which were released as extras pulled from a workprint, and some additional subplots that have minor threads in the final theatrical cut released by Cannon Films. The Director, Sidney J. Furie, disowned the film after he found out, as he had absolutely nothing to do with the released cut and was not consulted in any way or even informed until it was released. Apparently, WB found the screening print - or something - when they found the TV cut of Superman and they will likely release it sometime in the near future, depending on what happens with the TSC of JL and future Superman films. My prediction is that it will see release in some form if/when TSC is a success, prompting WB to follow up with a "Well, how about this?!" gift to the fans, perhaps even on UHD-BD in conjunction with the release of 2 and 3. We just don't know where WB is at with Superman right now and the success of TSC is what will determine their next moves with the older films and any potential MOS follow-up.

I recall a Warner interview stating the 2011 BDs were 2K scans of IPs for the Reeve movies.

I guess it's semantics, but the 90-minute version was what was released in theaters, so that's what would be considered the "original theatrical cut," as we normally understand the term.

It's good to hear that WB found the test screening print, but if the deleted scenes that we already have are any indication, it won't be much better. The "first nuclear man" scenes are atrocious (although having Alexander Courage's score in there instead of the terrible temp track might help).

The STM SE was indeed finished out to film and they didn't have to recut the OG negative to do it because the movie was originally conformed to A and B rolls (which is why the dissolves look cherry). When they did the SE they included all the extended material, recomposited VFX, better quality dupe for the Luthor's lair scene etc on a separate C roll. So when doing a 4K transfer of the SE they would simply transfer the C roll and then digitally edit it into the extant 4K transfer of the theatrical A/B negative.

Before we get too exited it may just be the 90 min version of IV with the Tornado and Russia missle scene added back in.

If they release the full cut even better, add the international extended cut of II and I will be very happy.

I don't see why this would need to wait for the Snyder cut of Justice League, I think the TV cut of STM was released randomly while nothing else was going on...i may be wrong.

The TV cut was released to tie-in with Josstice League, along with a pile of re-releases and some new offerings on disc. At this point, we know how the industry works and why things get released when they get released. If it's not an anniversary or tie-in, stuff sits unreleased unless someone goes to the trouble of doing it themselves.

Kinda crazy that they apparently found this, but not any TV cuts of Superman II...

But interesting... I'd expect that it would be released as a bonus alongside a 4K release of the Theatrical, like the Superman Extended TV cut release.

I am loving all the excitement and vibe about this potentially happening. It will never be great, but Superman IV needs a reassessment.

Slightly off topic, but anyone with an ounce of interest in the late Christopher Reeve should pick up a copy of Still Me. Fabulous read, albeit a heartbreaking one. Read this last year and couldn’t put it down.

We don't know if they have found the TV cut of 2 or 3, but there are legal hurdles with 1-2-3 due to the lawsuit with the Salkind Estate, so they can't just throw it out there without negotiations. WB is free and clear to do as they please with 4, because they own it and control outright, so far as I know.

Interesting. I had thought all the issues with the Salkinds were long taken care of... I assumed Warners owned the rest fully by now, as well...

Would they have definitely been edited on film?

I would assume that 1 and 2 were re-cut simultaneously for TV, if not close together, so film is more than likely what the 2nd was put out on. The 3rd is anyone's guess.
