One was cinematic symbolism, the other was literal. Haven't seen the movie for a while.

Personally speaking, I don’t think they will. But, never say never.

Not sure what you mean here, but if you are saying this Snyder Cut will wrap up the story...there is no way. No way 20-30M will cover costs to make an entire new films worth of material, as what is already done is just half of the story.

I mean, Flashpoint is still moving forward (or at least was before the pandemic). They could easily rework continuity with that and just let this be Snyder's last hurrah. I really don't think they'll let Snyder continue on with the DCEU at this point past this film, no matter how successful because Affleck won't be back. He might do some reshoots for this project because he does care about working with Snyder but beyond that he has clearly moved on. Also, Crisis On Infinite Earths on the CW confrimed that the DCEU is one of many alternate universes, it's easy to just wipe out certain elements through some crossover event (or again, the Flashpoint film).

Bringing Synder back to the fold fully doesn't seem like it'll happen and continuing on with DC tentpole films because there are so many already in various stages of production. He'd have to take into account the changes to the world Shazam!, Birds Of Prey, Wonder Woman 1984, the new Suicide Squad and Batman films into his continuation and that just doesn't seem possible.

But hey, who knows? Maybe this cut of Justice League will be so successful for HBO Max that WB decides to take another chance on continuing forward with Snyder. At best, I could see him direct another Superman solo film but not be allowed to use other characters anymore.

It’s not half a story.

Snyder’s cut was the completion of Superman’s story that started with Man of Steel. The next two JL films he had planned would just move forward more and be about the League more than just Superman.

When he and Terrio quickly rewrote JL to be one film instead of two films after the BvS reception, that script...which is the Snyder Cut, is meant to be the capper to Superman’s trilogy....with the promise of more if they got a chance.

Someone can correct me but this is what I've read/heard.

Snyder had completed 75% of the movie before he left. Joss took over and they reshot/recut/rewrote the whole movie. WB might have seen what Snyder had done and due to the lukewarm reception of BVS, decided a lighter tone/direction was needed. No one is sure what is left over from shots Snyder had done or what made it into the movie

So out there, existed shots of Snyder's movie which he talked about, fans latched on and demanded his cut.

All this is will be what Synder had envisioned how JL should have been. It will be a movie completed with his filmed shots, finishing up the visual effects. What I do not know is if any reshoots are planned.

The DCEU is a mess anyways and having this out there isn't changing anything. They can just chalk it up to existing in its own timeline like Joker or Flashpoint this into the current continuity. There are many ways to fit this story in because not too many movies have been released since then that this movie will mess with any established continuity.

I'm in the I liked the theatrical Justice League camp. Happy to watch the new cut as well

Also in the not a fan of Zack Snyder camp.

BvS was just ok until Wonder Woman comes in. She makes the movie.

Man of Steel, Zack just doesn't know when to quit while he's ahead! It's a great movie until the end with the endless Superman and Zod crashing through buildings. Boring!

Suckerpunch, the best I can say about this film is turn the sound off and just watch the visuals, because that's hot.

Watchmen visually is great but has pacing problems. Dragged at points, but I loved the look of the film.

Christopher Nolan upped the game and Snyder brought it down [but Patty Jenkins upped it again!]

Just my opinion, attack me all you want but I still bought the movies and steelbooks because I'm a huge fan of the super-hero genre.

and I do want to watch the new cut, I have low expectations though.

Justice League, though, I thoroughly enjoyed and I'm glad it was relatively short too.

Now Avengers hitting 2 1/2 to 3 hours that I can take every minute of.

What it sounds like is this will be a polished version of his original a little under four hours rough cut following completion of principal photography. He has a budget to finish visual effects, finish the score, and do some ADR with the actors. Unlikely any new footage will be shot, or if he does it will be very minimal.

The version he shot still wasn't the big two parter he originally was planning. And this won't have any pickups he would have done during additional photography. So when Snyder fans say we're getting his original vision...I think its more complicated than that.

I like the start of MoS.
I like the Batman and Wonder Woman parts of BvS
But regardless of whether or not I like the DCEU Snyder movies I thought they were tonally consistent, the JL was a disgrace.
My favorite character of BvS (Batman) who was such a bad arse in that movie becomes a punchline in JL. 'Oh, yeah, something is definitely bleeding', and 'I'm rich'.
******* rubbish.
Bring on the Snyder Cut. I will even get a HBO Max subscription to watch it.

I'm right in the middle with Snyder's DC movies. There's many things I liked about Man of Steel and the director's cut of BvS, and there's things I really did not like about them (I definitely agree with you about the overbloated climax of Man of Steel). On the internet, the reaction to Snyder's DC films tends to be either misunderstood genius or worthless hot garbage with not a lot in between (reminds me of the newest Star Wars movies, actually).

Oh, and I actually like the theatrical Justice League as well. It's a hot mess, for sure, and an awkward transition from BvS in tone and style, but to me it's like a fairly entertaining "Super Friends" adventure, and I actually enjoy it more than Whedon's second Avengers film. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Snyder's Justice League, though, as I think it will be ultimately more interesting and a much more fitting follow-up to his first two movies.

The theatrical Justice League is enjoyable as a live-action episode of the cartoon show. Not a great movie, but enjoyable as a guilty pleasure. Hard for me to be objective about that movie, though.

I'm sure Snyder's version will be better, but I'd rather we get an actual two- or three-hour movie than a mini-series. I wanna see the best version of the movie that he would've wanted to release back in 2017, not some bloated mess that WB only sanctioned to pimp out their new streaming service.

I'd rather a 4-hour movie (which then gets released in 4K blu-ray) than 6 separate episodes because you have to have setups and payoffs for every episode which (IMHO) hurts pacing.

So, I'm not entirely sure what you mean here but Synder shot the entirety of Principal Photography (which is why he is the sole credited director on the Theatrical Cut of Justice League as per DGA rules). He shot everything in the shooting script, but when post-production came around, the studio and producers wanted changes and so he was set to go back into reshoots. It's a very typical thing, many films, big or small, often go back to reshoot things in post-production to make tweaks.

What is atypical is what happened to Snyder, leaving the film due to personal tragedy and having someone else step in. Where Joss comes in, while according to the studio publicly he was just supposed to guide the film through post and get it to the theater. Instead, it seems like they took advantage of Snyder's absence and drastically reshot a huge chunk of the movie and retooled the stuff that was shot by Snyder as best they could to fit their new tone and direction. According to some of the people who worked on the movie like Fabian Wagner, the DP about 1/3rd to a quarter of principal photography made it into the film so they reshot a lot of the movie.

As for how much of VFX and sound were finished before Synder left is kinda the mystery. I'm guessing a significant amount since they're now spending possibly $30 million on the VFX and sound, not to mention some extra reshoots.

They could make Justice League at least 10% better just by using the Superman and Wonder Woman theme music at key points.

This is 100% going to be split up into episodes. Its the big ticket item for HBO MAX and they're going to want to stretch it out for as long as possible.

This isn't going to result in another movie on HBO Max. The "Warner Max" original movies for the service will be in the $30-50 million range which is where this is coming from. They are just allocating the budget of one of those to finish it.
