Who dat rock star?

As for MI, it's great to hear that the original DP oversaw the transfer so all the sloblock posted about its "problems" is just that: sloblock.

And yeah, Mike's bang on the money re: Goodfeathers being a torture test for HDR. Sticking a movie with barely 240-nit peaks into a 4000-nit mastering is asking for trouble, and the black levels have been raised vs the 25th anni Blu-ray (revealing shadow detail crushed out of said Blu) so that will also play into how people perceive it.

I wasn't happy when Blu-ray won out over HD DVD. But I eventually embraced Blu-ray wholeheartedly.

Life is short, go with the flow and move on. 3D is dead as a home format and a top of the line 4K HDR set is the bomb.

He said it was mixed for him and couldn't decide if he liked it or not. Some parts looked great and others didn't.

Idk about anyone else, but I'm still holding out for a cheap box set later In the year, preferably around $50. Is that mission, impossible?

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to Stop Worrying About the 4K Transfer of Mission Impossible and Love the UHD

And I quote “for the most part this transfer is absolute garbage”. That doesn’t sound mixed to me lol

Do you ever want to ask someone who says something like this about a good transfer "what ****ing movie were you watching?"

Almost every time I read these threads lol. Again, a lot of it comes down to gear since every manufacturer does their own tone mapping so it’s the Wild West. But some reviews are so far away from the ballpark they are in the parking lot. HDD has gotten so bad that if a disc gets a bad or lukewarm review I’m confident I’ll like it.

Honestly, I feel intimidated whenever I post a review. I'm pretty sure someone will ask me "what the **** were you watching?" LOL

I do it anyway and let the chips fall where they may.

Same here. I skim the reviews that get posted, but when I really want to know I come here and read through several pages.

As someone who has yet to own a 4K TV set, it was too painful to watch Mission Impossible I & II on standard 1080p Blu-Ray, seeing how its source wasn't cleaned up to modern standards. I decided to just watch it on my iPhone. The 4K Dolby Vision remaster makes it so much more bearable.

No, that is Mission never. The US isn't getting a box set.

Oh, definitely. It was pretty amusing to see the finale largely consisting of Tom Cruise launching into the air and slo-mo kicking Ambrose about 5 times in a row.
