Wow, the only way I will see this is if they release the original cut on disc, but then they'd have to finish the FX for the deleted scenes and I doubt they'll do that. I'd much rather they had just left it as is was. Like Trank's FF -- it had to be at least as good as the bastardized version.
Not saying it's a total piece of garbage like that, but why spend a ton of money to turn something into something it's not that's not any better? |

Yup, honestly the Snyder/Whedon marriage works well. The movie plays up to both their strengths, in terms of Snyder's visuals and Whedon's grasp on character. There's definitely some choppiness to the movie that's probably due to the behind-the-scenes reshuffling, but it's mostly in the beginning. (Also at least one pretty obvious continuity error involving someone's stubble appearing and disappearing within the same scene lol)

Are there stupid jokes likes thor:Ragnarock or they take the threat seriously like WW with a more subtle irony?

The threat is taken seriously, but obviously there's bantering among the group. Thankfully most of it is pretty good so it's hard to complain. |

I hope for a director's cut. The movie is too short and rushed. Character's need to breath

I just got finished watching the film.
In a nutshell, it's a very straightforward movie due to having a very simplistic plot that conveys the clichéd theme of hope in the most overt and lighthearted way. Subsequently, it lacks the thematic subtleties and the realistic, grounded deconstruction of superheroes featured in BvS and MoS; it leaves nothing to reflect on or analyze and therefore is not a movie that online communities will be debating about years from now. From a technical standpoint, it's pretty rough due to the abundance of CGI and the poor quality of most of it. Most scenes seem to have been shot on a sound stage with green-screen backgrounds, which causes the movie to remind me of the artificial presentation of Spy Kids. However, there are some good instances of digital effects, namely most of the closeups of Steppenwolf and a few of those of Cyborg. As for the most controversial use of CGI in the movie, the digital removal of Henry Cavill's mustache, it's downright awful and is the first thing that you see in the movie. The only sequence in which it's virtually unnoticeable is that in which he's resurrected; otherwise, it sticks out like a sore thumb and is quite visually bothersome. As for the story, it flows very, very quickly; its pacing is terribly efficient, executing plot points as one would carry out the entries on a to-do list. Each new character is introduced, given a scene or two to convey a small but sufficient portion of their backstory, and recruited by either Bruce or Diana. However, their interactions with one another are limited to very mild banter that serves as levity (which the crowd chewed up). Out of the three new characters - Aquaman, Cyborg, and the Flash - Cyborg stood out the most to me because he is so integral to the team due to his abilities; he serves as a recon agent, strategist, and an overall information specialist; as a result, he gets a lot of lines. Aquaman and the Flash stood out equally to me but a little less than Cyborg; Aquaman because of his funny dialogue and the Flash because of his badass moments and his funny dialogue (and overall funny demeanor). As for Bruce Wayne/ Batman, Ben Affleck has become solidified in the role. His visual resemblance to the character and his overall demeanor and delivery of dialogue is reminiscent of the character as presented in BTAS and JLTAS; he's solemn, straight to the point, and delivers laughs due to his candid remarks regarding the immediate context within which he finds himself. Also, he looks absolutely stunning in the Batsuit; he's just as physically imposing as Batman is in the comics and animated series. There's a scene in which he descends from the Spider Tank and walks into the background; in this scene the width of his shoulders from behind is just as impressive and imposing as it is in the Arkham games. As for Diana, she didn't stand out much to me apart from being beautiful. She delivers a very cheesy line in the bank-heist sequence, which is pretty underwhelming, and spends the rest of the movie simply consoling Bruce and Victor (Cyborg). Now for Supes. As others have said, the Supes that we get in this movie is the most charming, charismatic, and lighthearted Supes that we've ever gotten in the DCFU; he is Donner's Superman reincarnated. He smiles, he jokes around, and he explicitly states that he's a force for good. Furthermore, his costume is much more vividly colored than it's been in the previous entries of the DCFU; however, something that stood out to me is the abandonment of the yellow that's usually behind his "S" and its replacement with silver. So, what about Steppenwolf? Yes, it's true, he's quite bland and forgettable. He's as generic as they come, wanting to take over the world simply because he's innately superior and is entitled to do so. However, he isn't compelling in the slightest and is literally quite weak, being held down by a group of Amazons in one scene, effectively struck a few times by Atlanteans in another, and [Show spoiler] . Elfman's score isn't the type of music that I'd listen to independently of the movie, unlike the scores for MoS and BvS. However, it compliments the movie very well and never disappointed me. So, I think that it's one of the better aspects of the film. The theme that stood out to me the most is that of the Flash; it conveys a sense of wonder and awe, which is fitting for Barry's amazing abilities, speaking of which, I think that Ezra Miller needs to work on his form when running, because it looks quite wonky in one particular sequence. Overall, the movie is a genuinely fun and funny experience but is not a good movie from an objective and filmmaking standpoint. It is inferior to MoS and BvS, as well as WW. 6/10 |
