None of the Lionsgate releases since John Wick 3 have used that digital redemption method. Doesn't mean they won't try it again though.

Maybe. But I found some discussion at a different sites forum and there was a French 4K Steelbook which was originally listed on Amazon France and another French online retailer Fnac.com which has since been removed seemingly cancelled - instead there is now only a Blu ray steelbook.

With the steelbook versions being cancelled, the final question still remains. Will Metropolitan Films still give Rambo Last Blood a 4K treatment like John Wick 1-3 and Green Book at all or will they just release it on 1080p Blu-ray only like Hellboy (2019) and Hunter Killer (no 4K in France)?

My educated guess: German release from Universum has only German subtitles, French release (if there will be any) from Metropolitan only French subtitles. Could be a problem if there are no englisch (burnt-in) subs for the non-english dialogues.

Yeah, I think we have the perfect “we’re all f***ed” storm here. Why are some areas, like Japan, not getting a release at all and, if they eventually do, which area of the world offers the best chance of giving us the extended version with English subs?

That's why the Aussie disc is the best bet, even if the extended is 1080 only.

Good call. That’s probably what will garner my dollar. A shame, though.

Frankly, a 4K transfer is more important than the subtitles for me, if push comes to shove.

If I spoke Spanish, I could agree with you.

Hmm. I didn't think of that. If I get the German release, will it have German hardcoded subs for the Spanish speaking sections? I can live with no subtitles at all but hardcoded subs in another language might bother me.

Nope, because the dub includes the Spanish dialogues. They dubbed everything in German...

Maybe I‘ll buy the German as supplement then. Just to have the longer Version also in 4K.

I haven't watched the movie, I was wondering if there's a lot of Spanish dialogue, and if that's relevant to the story (I mean, not just swearing or sounds people make when they're being killed, cause I do get those even without subs

Didn't think much of this movie myself. It just didn't feel like a Rambo movie except for the last 15 minutes or so and that was just the forest scene from First Blood but in a cave.

Is there any hope of a boxset with the entire collection in 4k and blu coming out?

There's a very good chance of that happening.

So with thanks to members StrayButler91 and Cevolution who have confirmed in the Australian forum that the Aussie 4K release does indeed have the extended International cut on the regular blu ray and a copy of the shorter U.S version on the 4K disc. Now the bad news for those wanting to import: The extended version only has DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio (the 4K which is just a copy of the U.S Lionsgate disc has Atmos) Also the blu ray is Region B locked.

So the German UHD and Blu-ray both have Atmos and extended cut on each?

I haven't upgraded my Rambo collection to blu ray. With Last Blood coming out it would be a great opportunity to have a cool looking 4k box set.
