This film is realistically as bad as the reviews said.
The PQ is incredible, acting B-movie quality, elements of the story are generic(SW references abound), and predictable. The 4K disc is a splendid feature to look at, just not a film to watch, IMHO. |

Finally got around to watching this tonight. Not quite as bad as some people made it out to be, but it's a pretty meh movie. Lots of potential. Poor execution. Peter Jackson should've just directed it and made it into two films. It didn't have enough time to breathe and develop. Moved too fast. Caused you to not really care about the characters or what was happening. Felt like a CW show at times. Bad script. Special effects and set pieces were incredible though. Sound design was pretty good. I liked the main girl. If it gets a sequel I'll give it a shot.
With that said though, this is without a doubt the best-looking Blu-ray I've ever seen, 4K or otherwise. Eclipses Dark Knight Rises and Guardians 2, which were in my top 3 picture quality-wise. Shit was mesmerizing. |

Watched this today. My disc has a problem with about 10 minutes of playback during the start of the final battle. Have had problems with some UHD discs before but nothing this bad. That being said the picture quality was amazing. The colors also stood out. The jacket that Valentine's daughter was wearing in particular really caught my eye.
Plot-wise I wish there had been more city-eating. The first scene had a lot of tension and was very enjoyable. Wish they had done something similar for the final battle. It was also cool seeing the size of the tracks that London left behind. Unfortunately the movie kind of went downhill from there. |

The audio was rather disappointing in this. I didn't have overhead speakers when I first watched it, but after watching it again with them, it feels like I wasn't missing out on much. There's so many moments where I expected a lot of overhead activity but barely heard anything. Still a gorgeous disc though.

Steelbook
$12.99 on Clearance at BB Even at that price, I won't upgrade my dusty old untouched blu-ray. I love B-films, but not in the modern era. Sorry, but this won't be reaching cult film status. Eye candy can only go so far. |

Mortal Engines is steampunk. The "modern" era is a component of that. Mortal Engines is a cult film just like Gods of Egypt. |
