Hey all, a bit off topic here, but if you missed out on the 15 disc Halloween box set, and want the producers cut of Curse, then you're in luck.

Wal-Mart has received a shipment of BDs that have vintage VHS looking slips on them and the producers cut version of Curse is one of them Not all stores got them in, so I had to search at six different stores until I finally found one. They're only $5 to boot.

I have the ten disc box set and really wanted to see this cut of the film. Needless to say, I'm super stoked to have it in my collection. Yes, I know, I am breaking my rule of buying only UHD and VHS, but this is a BD that has a slip that looks like VHS, and the price is right...eh...close enough.

Do you have a SKU? I'd like to search brickseek.

Edit: There's also this, on Walmart's website. No VHS art, but still the Producer's Cut: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Halloween...u-ray/55372096

I guess I know who else was a teenager when they first saw the movie!!

Why is the price so low right now for this? Is there some obscure defect besides maybe not having "perfect" sound?

No, just Lionsgate having generally low catalog prices coupled with stores wanting to move product with an actual movie and holiday tie-in happening at the same time. Outside of the mono track thing, this is a great disc.

For those curious as to what this looks like, I snapped a quick pic with my potato.

I forgot to mention that it also comes with a digital code. I redeemed mine as soon as I got back home. Had zero issues with getting it on my Vudu account. IMO, the digital code adds to the already excellent value of this release.

Well, the store next to my office didn't have the cool VHS cover, but I ordered the edition linked above for $5.99, so no complaints. Excited to watch this one, for sure.

EDIT: When you order it on Walmart.com, you get an InstaWatch copy for VUDU, emailed to you immediately, so that's cool.

I hope I don't sound any more pedantic than usual, but Halloween was filmed anamorphically, not open matte. At most there might have been a tiny sliver of extra information at the top or bottom of the frame, but even that probably would have been cut off by overscan on older TVs.

With apologies because I'm sure it's been covered somewhere in the preceding 156 pages...

Is it known or understood with any reasonable authority why the North American release is without a digital code?

I think it's because Lionsgate doesn't have digital distribution rights.

On the iTunes and Amazon pages for the film, it lists the distributor as Trancas, and it doesn't seem to be available at all on Vudu.

Thanks! This (digital and disc rights being licensed to different companies) may be something we start to see more often in indie distro circles.

America get all the good deals! No chance of that happening here in the U.K. pees me off!

Yeah, it's rather unfortunate. It also makes the low price tag, even by LG standards, make a little more sense.

Thanks for the offer but luckily I’ve got the 15 disc box set or otherwise I’d have said yes. Cracking offer though. 😃
