But for real, when Bob opens the fridge, I thought I saw a little flash. However, I think it was just the fridge light quickly reflecting off the egg carton that was sitting in the fridge door. Last edited by RustinCohle; 10-18-2018 at 07:45 PM. |

Alrighty, I just finished H20 and Resurrection.
I must admit here, that I was 21 when H20 came out and I remember it being a REALLY big deal at the time. JLC back in the franchise, the nods to Psycho with her real life mother Janet Leigh being in the film (named Norma even) and the beautifully restored car she (Janet) drove while playing Marion Crane in the Hitchcock classic. There were also some moments of dialogue that reference Psycho, and I enjoyed the throwbacks myself. Like all of these, I watched this through the lens of nostalgia, and I liked it well enough. It was certainly a step up from parts 5 and 6, and was a nice boost for the series IMO. I liked it 20 years ago, and I still liked it earlier today. Refined taste be damned. ![]() Resurrection, on the other hand, hasn't aged quite as well. I can see what they were going for here. Putting Michael Myers in the modern internet age and all, but there were so many gaps in logic that the film didn't work well overall IMO. I thought it started out well enough, and set up an interesting film that it completely abandoned after the rooftop scene. I felt like the opening 1/4 of the movie was tacked on for a bit of fan service, then it changes gears completely and becomes something else altogether. Something that didn't seem like it was as good a movie as had been initially set up. Oh well... Next I will be watching the two Rob Zombie Halloween films. The 10 disc set I have has the directors cut of pt 1 and the unrated cut of pt 2. I have not seen either one of these, but have seen the beginning to part one when it first came to home video. I was really excited to see it, but I will admit, that about 15-20 mins into it, I had enough and have never finished it all these years later. I suppose now is the time. Part two of the Zombie films I have not seen at all, and really know nothing about as I have generally ignored it in the past. I'm hoping these are at least decent, but I'm not gonna put my butcher knife down just yet. ![]() ![]() Last edited by 4kUltraBD; 10-18-2018 at 10:05 PM. |

I keep forgetting that about that. Some folks had big problems with weird flashing during certain moments in X-Men...only for the motionflow to be the culprit. Again, it's just another factor to add to all the other tweaks and adjustments and alterations that people are doing to the PQ, on top of whatever the tone mapping is doing, hence me taking my cues only from a very small sample of posters on here, never mind most "pro" reviewers.

I saw mild flickering only at the beginning with little Myers was wearing the mask. It did not look like an issue from my panel though. Obviously it is but it was so minor it didn’t really bother me. Did not see ant flickering with X-Men.

Yes, yes it is. But as with stuff like zooming black bars away and other such sacrilegious acts, more people do it than you think and so they may not immediately come to the conclusion that the motionflow and/or other 'picture enhancing' modes are part of the problem, particularly with ye olde comeback of "it never did this before!!". I'm not throwing shade at anyone in here per se, just throwing in another patronizing Geoff D Opinion™.

I am not trying to rehash this whole mono thing, but yesterday I finally had some time and popped in the 78' classic from my Complete Collection. It was played on the OPPO 203 with a Denon 6400h. Toggled through the audio, as it defaults to the 7.1 mix and the only other option besides the 2 DD commentary tracks was a stereo track, which is what it played in when I selected it. The case says it has the mono track and you guys have been discussing that the CC is the only 78' bd disc that had the mono track. What gives???

Interesting, so not a 'true' mono like in older films, which I think had the 1 track only. It's funny, because I always thought 78' it was a standard 2 channel stereo track for years, until I looked into it more. In some sort of theory, I guess it is. Anyways, thanks for the info.

I’ve seen it before on other titles, but they are escaping me at the moment. Always in near black scenes with lots of grain. Last edited by cfitzpatrick711; 10-19-2018 at 12:48 AM. |

Yeah, on my old B6 I dropped the brightness one tick to 49 and the flashing was gone. Still waiting for my E8 to emerge from the other side of whatever black hole it has fallen into and this is one of the first discs I'll be testing out.
