Have been trying to keep up with this thread but it looks like it went off the rails over the weekend when the review went up. Can someone just confirm in simple terms if it sucks or not? Because the review certainly thinks it does.

So should I just wait a year for a 25th anniversary re-release or is this probably it for the 4K upgrade? I don't have the regular Blu for this so if everyone is saying the 4K is bad should I even bother getting this one?

Save some cash, it seems the 1080p Sapphire Series Blu-ray is your best bet... under $10 at Amazon.

I don't want an unboxing of an amray that's a date of bandwith.
More how about showing you actually own it, as all I heard were reviews being read.

I enjoy your reviews and applaud continued reviewing of 3D discs as some of us still like 3D better than 4K HDR in many instances. I think in this case a consensus seems to be growing that the 1080p BD of Gump is overall a better and more consistent watch than the 4K UHD.

Question: Now that you've been reviewing UHDs for a while, do you still feel 3:10 Yuma 4K UHD is superior to the BD? This is a tough one for me as I feel the 4K UHD has better color and in some ways looks less digital than the US Lionsgate BD (less chroma fringing, EE, aliasing, and digital noise) but on the other hand more digital due to DNR killing some of the fine detail and film grain in some scenes. Looking back would do still prefer the 4k of yuma over the 1080p, or do you think 1080p better like Gump? My Yuma UHD is still sitting here unopened as I am indecisive whether to keep or sell, despite the DNR those sunsets sure look nice in HDR; I can't decide as it seems both the BD and UHD have major pitfalls.

No problems with "pixelation" either, just a lovely layer of grain. You watching on a 2016 OLED by any chance?
I don't even own a UHD player, I just read a lot of how people were disappointed when it initially came out.

How can you f up Terminator 2, Grease and Forrest Gump?!?

I could honestly give 2 sh!ts at how good Transformers (insert #) looks- if you cant make classics look great, what's the point???

I swear this format feels like an instagram filter in that sometimes it looks good, sometimes it looks awful.

A lot of pedantic criticisms being thrown your way so I'm going to balance it out with some positives, your reviews are lively and animated and not 15 minutes of rambling without getting to the point. If I was you, I wouldn't change a thing.

Although to satisfy the complainers, I'd recommend simply holding up the UHD as you talk about it.

SpareChange and yourself are the only YouTube 4K reviewers who keep things grounded.

It's very disappointing how this UHD turned out, will only give 4K protesters more fuel on this platform.

You don't have to defend him. Since Brass did a Tomb Raider (2018) review; well Brass just show us you have a copy in hand, like I asked in the Tomb Raider topic.

Keepcase, slipcase and the discs all on the table.

+1 While Brass isn't exactly my go to guy for feedback on UHDs, he at least has personality. I'm not going to lie - the dude cracks me up. Some of the other youtube UHD reviewers make listening to their reviews as much fun as an injection of anaesthetic straight to the brain.

I've only been in the 4K game since January but already I've slowed down purchases of UHD discs because of the inconsistencies. Only titles I buy in 4K day one are new theatrical films, with only one real disappointment in that category so far (Annihilation). Just like I did with Gladiator, I'm moving Forrest Gump from the 'Coming Soon" category to "Wishlist" on my collection here. My wishlist titles are usually a dumping ground for titles I may never actually purchase.
