I hope if all of this is released Warner doesn't mess things up, by adding new sound effects like they did with the BATMAN movies and fixing the image so we can have the truest colors and tones.
One thing I noticed comparing the old Superman IV DVD is that Warner fixed some problems with the SD transfer. Also, with the multiple versions all the movies had, I hope they at least decide to include the never-released ones in 1080p. A few things have not been answered until this date: - 1st movie: re-release for the UHD (fixing the known issues) and for the extended cuts? -- 2nd (theatrical, RIC and Donner Cut): If the RD cut for streaming (Vudu?) got that extra scene, does that mean ALL deleted stuff that didn't end in this cut can be restored as well? They are in SD. And no RIC (TV version)? --- Super III: TV Cut: the copy I saw includes the deleted scenes (in SD and 4:3) and a few more seconds from the broadcast. Will all of this be restored to Widescreen and 1080p? ---- 4th: TV cut: Tornado and URSS scenes: how about not using the workprint this time, and instead the same source from the japanese Widescreen laserdisc (and TV)? At least put that bit in 1080p even if the rest is in 4K. |

Well earlier in this thread I stated how much better Superman 3 is to Thor Love and Thunder and got a few likes. I'm wondering how close a poll would be on Superman 4 vs Love and Thunder?

Disagree. They owe us their business. Without audience, no business. And the least studios can do is respect their audience, which doesn't happen very frequently these days.

It seems there is a bit of unnecessary tension about Superman sequels preferences in this thread. But in the end, whatever, everyone has its own go on III, IV or Returns. That was only my point: please, Warner, release everything in 4K and let us have the choice, so that everyone is happy. |

I was disappointed with Superman 3, and 4 when I saw them in the theater. But I enjoy them quite a bit now. The "comic book" feel of both of them is so fun. I can't wait to see the HDR on these fun films.

The idea that Lois was married with a kid was what you call a subconscious c--kblock with the whole Lois and Superman angle. It would have put a wet blanket over any supposed chemistry right off the bat and the conceit of the movie really hurt it overall. |

If they are going to work on the sequels and deliver them in UHD, at least put some effort in the deleted scenes, even if all of them don't end up in a full cut. For example: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-S.../20003/#Review The review says all of these are in SD: 2nd movie: - Superman's Soufflé Deleted Scene (SD, 1 minute): Lois teaches Superman to make a soufflé in the Fortress of Solitude. The title of the cut spoils the joke of the scene though. And: - Deleted Scenes (SD, 9 minutes): Six wisely trimmed deleted scenes are included: "Lex and Ms. Teschmacher Head North," "Lex and Ms. Teschmacher Head South," "The Villains Enter the Fortress," "He's All Yours Boys," "Clark and Jimmy" and "Lex's Getaway." 3rd: - Deleted Scenes (SD, 20 minutes, and all in 4:3): Eleven deleted scenes are included -- "Save My Baby," "To the Rescue," "Making Up," "Going to See the Boss," "Hatching the Plan," "The Con," "Rooftop Ski Resort," "Boss Wants This to Go," "Superman Honored," "Gus' Speech" and "Hanging Up on Brad" -- some of which, I have to say, are truly awful. Why? If the Vudu version managed to include this scene, in HD: [Show spoiler] Why they did this before? [Show spoiler] Even worse are the deleted scenes from the 4th movie. Instead of putting Alexander Courage's soundtrack which was only (for the 1st time) sold 2 years later (in the BLUE BOX album), the 2006 release (DVD and Blu-ray) used a goofy music for the workprint: ******* Deleted Scenes (SD, 31 minutes): Fifteen deleted scenes are included -- "Clark's Morning," "Jeremy's Letter," "Superman's Visit," "Nuclear Man's Prototype," "Metropolis After Hours," "Lex Ponders," "Extended Flying Sequence," "Battle in Smallville," "Battle in the USSR," "Nuclear Arms Race," "Superman's Sickness," "Red Alert," "By My Side," "Clark and Lacy Say Goodbye" and "No Borders" -- although considering the quality of the film itself, I'm shocked there were scenes deemed unfit for the final cut. Ah well, they're good for laughs, a bad Marlon Brando impression, an extra helping of cheesy special effects, some early opticals, extra bits of Gene Hackman and more of everything you love to hate. ******* Did you know this is what was really composed for this scene? [Show spoiler] Not to mention ISOLATED TRACKS for all these sequels, which are absent from the current Blu-ray releases. ![]() What I dread most is they mess with the image (again) and decide to change the audio to include a new mix. For the BATMAN movies the english DD 5.1 mix was still the new, down-mixed from the Atmos. That forced buyers to not get rid of the previous 2011 Blu-rays (all Batman 2019 Blu-rays also used the new mix). I remember Warner did this sort of thing with the first DVD from Superman: The Movie back in the 2000's, we had to wait years for the theatrical cut and the original mix... ![]() |

I didn't remember the state of the deleted scenes in the Blu-ray set to be fair (I watched them quite some time ago now), but I assume Warner just copied/pasted from the DVD set.
I knew about the soundtrack, having all the limited scores from La La Land for the five movies (I only listen at the first one on a regular basis). But great hindsight, thanks! |

I hope WB takes this opportunity fix the main title glitch on Christopher Reeve's credit during the main titles. Superman arguably has the greatest main titles of any movie, and to think it's out there with a glitch drives me kind of crazy.

Absolutely. Drives me crazy. Baffles me how that got past QC. If they do a set with all four, they had better at least fix that.
