https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/...201741697.html So this situation is most likely nothing more than WB planning a double dip. Oh well, I'll buy the cheaper digital release and wait for the Extended Cut on UHD. |

How are you people surprised?
This is the same studio that made us double dip for Fury Road B&W and for Gravity silent edition. Last edited by flyry; 11-14-2017 at 09:27 PM. |

I'll wait for the Director's Cut or the 2 movie combo. I was all in for a day one purchase, but they missed me with that cash grab.

I hoped that with WB allowing him to announce it that it would be released with the theatrical cut. But no I'm not even a little bit surprised that WB did this. Just disappointed.

Best spread it over two BD-100's and have an intermission like 70mm roadshows of yore. |

One of the producers said that long time ago, not the director. What the director did say was that the studio told him to do a Director’s Cut. I guess is something like the theatrical vs extended releases of The Lord of the Rings. and The Hobbit also fron New Line

Another thing. It seems Andy Muschietti is indeed a director who likes to do commentary, and there’s even a clip in youtube where he does it for the woman in the painting scene, which sounds almost as if it were extracted from the actual commentary, and that’d mean this is not the definitive edition.
I don't think they would've talk about a Director's Cut and Andy even confirming he was working on it "right now" in an interview in Argentina (where he now mentioned it was about 10 minutes longer), if it was planned for the long run. My guess is that we'll see it some time next year. Last edited by Oscarilbo; 11-15-2017 at 05:06 PM. |

There's that interview with the film's editor in which he confirmed the original cuts were much longer than 2:30 hrs: "From memory, the first editor’s assembly was three hours and forty minutes and then after the director’s cut, we were hovering just under the three-hour mark. Then we went through studio notes and audience screenings to further work the cut." So this could mean the 15 min. of "delated scenes" feature in the upcoming release are NOT what the the Muschiettis are including in the Director's Cut. |
