Is it a Sony TV you have? DV usually has this effect unfortunately.

After finishing the film, I went back and forth a couple of times between HDR10 and DV during the daytime scenes, and I could not notice a darker picture or more desaturated colors with DV myself.

Just finished watching this as I do every Halloween and did not notice any flicker. Next might be Arrow's An American Werewolf In London

It's more difficult to detect when you're stopping the disc, changing settings, going back again, stopping the disc, changing settings, going back again, but I've made measurements with a colourimeter and it really is dimmer when comparing my "1:1" calibrated mode (that follows the ST.2084 brightness curve correctly) and DV on default settings. Of course, if one is putting the contrast much higher than the default 90 on DV - like on maximum, for example - then the brightness will be higher and closer to HDR10, but on some content it's going to clip the highlights as a result which negates one of DV's key USPs in the first place.

Would love to go egging, great idea but instead I’m sitting down to watch It Follows to end this Halloween!

Hate egging. It's a waste of food in a world where people are starving.

The color timing on the included blu ray is better. Not accurate, I know, but it just looks cooler. Especially the final scene bathed in blues.

Rounding out my Halloween (which I hate, by the way) with the third disc of the 5 disc/Blu-ray set of R.E.M.'s Monster 25th anniversary reissue. It's the new 2019 remix done by the original producer/mixer Scott Litt. It's like having a new R.E.M. album. It's not due out til tomorrow but I got it early (thanks Bull Moose). Best Hallwoeen ever.
