I don't think Geoff is the biggest fan of Run, Forrest, Run so not sure he'll be buying it any time soon.

I can sympathise - sadly last time I watched it, I did not enjoy it at all, despite being a big fan in days gone by. Still love Gary Sinise in this though

It's always been terrible to me since the cinema.
And yet I keep buying it for the Vietnam sequence.

Eh... I love the film. And I'm sure I'll love the UHD, despite a underwhelming PQ! I am curious however for a more detailed account regarding the atmos being a stellar remix?

I've walked out of the cinema twice in my life: Caligula for being too gross, and Forrest Gump for being too boring.

And that's all I have to say about that.

I like the movie but I never thought it was great, I always felt it was overrated. It has some nice moments but not something I need to watch many times which is why I never bought it outside of VHS. I was excited when it was announced for the format since I haven’t seen it in years but I think I’m going to hold off for a Black Friday sale now.

Great movie! I always really enjoy the timecapsule/period piece aspects and of course the lighthearted take on things that are anything but. This movie deserves better.

Yeah when it came out I really liked it. However I do remember fast forwarding many of the scenes because they were a little boring).

I have a feeling I may not enjoy it as much now though thinking back to some of the scenes.

I think I’ll wait for a sale too (unless I feel the demand will be high next week for digital code since maybe not a lot of people will buy the disc, this offsetting some of the cost).

How could you be bored by Forrest Gump? The pacing and story telling is great.

Agreed. Sometimes I've started watching part of it without the intention of seeing the whole movie but it's so well crafted and the story told so well that before I know it, I've watched the whole thing. Pulls me in every time. Love this movie. I always have.

Well, it's a popular movie and won a ton of Academy Awards, but would add "silly" and "predictable" to "boring". I left at the point where it you just knew how it was going to end,
[Show spoiler]Jenny was going to die
. I'm pretty sure I tried to give it a second go on rental DVD at home but gave up even sooner.

You can't please all the people all the time, y'all enjoy it, I'll pass.

Last time I watched this (around 6 mos ago on BD), I actually enjoyed it. Prior to that, I had always been so-so about the movie.

I’ll have to watch it again. My memory is horrible. I don’t think I have seen it in 10 years or so.

Still think I’ll wait for more reviews. Leaning towards waiting for a sale as mentioned above.

So the consensus with forest gump on UHD is that it's ridden with DNR? thats weird because my 4K copy of Forest Gump on my samsung UHD video pack seems to have plenty of grain. I guess another good reason not to get rid of it

Where did you get this? Is it available through some Samsung streaming service?

Edit: Nevermind, I did some googling on the Samsung video pack. Had no idea they offered that at one time — pretty cool.

Same with the TV version.
That's maybe closer to the master than the disc may be.

I just canceled my order. Too many bad reviews of this. I'll wait down the road and get it. Hopefully Black Friday will have a good deal on this. Plus after getting a new UHD player today at Best Buy my bill monthly will skyrocket, and minus one movie will help the blow a little bit.
