I lucked out and snagged this steelbook at a local BBY this morning. I hated to buy it as I have an online order, but it doesn’t seem to be getting fulfilled, and I didn’t want to miss this beautiful steel.

As others have stated, it’s more rustic than the cream color in the pictures. Quite fitting IMO.

BTW, my local store had 5 copies of this, and 4 copies of the Evil Dead steelbook in stock. Minus one of each when I left, of course. I’m not a scalper, so hopefully all the locals looking to score these will get lucky.

Best Buy delayed my online order so I ordered a copy early this morning before the store opened. The website said would be ready within an hour once the store opened, over 2 hours go by and I still haven't gotten an email so I go to the store and they have one left on the shelf so I grabbed it and canceled my order. Now it shows the store is out of stock. If I didn't go to the store I definitely wouldn't have gotten this movie.

It looks like the digital copy page for vudu still isn't live yet.

the code is redeeming now, but in HD and since they didn't swap out distributors. no new 4K option was added. at this point, they'll probably never add it on digital services in 4K. that's the one thing that sucks about digital, you won't be able to see physical exclusives like Halloween, Stand by Me, Shout Factory, Arrow Video, Kino Lorber 4Ks and such.

I was surprised, like others, to see the second disc in the BB Steelbook has different artwork than the initial 4K release.

However, I put both into my player and the disc contents are exactly the same. Both discs are the 2007 release with the vibrant color timing, mono soundtrack option and the included special feature "A Cut Above the Rest" which is absent from the 4K disc and most subsequent releases.

The image shows in descending order: The release from the 15 Disc Scream Factory set, the standard 4K, and the Best Buy steelbook. The disc on the left of all three is the exact same disc with different artwork.

Has the mono mix on the 4K disc been corrected this time around?

From what I can tell, the 4K disc is identical in every way to the 4K disc released earlier.

I have the 10 disc Scream Factory Halloween set and it only came with disc 1 of Halloween. What am I missing from disc 2 and would I be able to get the same material if I bought this new steelcase? Thank you!

I went to my local BB around 1pm as I had to help my girl with car troubles and all sold out. The nearest BB that was 40 min away had some but that’s a gamble. I’m not paying scalpers on eBay! One seller has a pic of 3 copies! Talk about a scumbag seller of the week!

The second disc from the larger SF set is an exact copy of the earlier 2007 blu ray disc. They included this in the larger set because it includes two extras not found on the 35th anniversary disc (which is the one that comes in both the 10 disc set and 15 disc set). The special feature is "A Cut Above the Rest" and is roughly an hour and a half. Additionally, there is an alternate commentary with Curtis, Carpenter and Hill on this version.

And yes, this exact disc is Disc 2 from the SF 15 disc set, and the bonus disc for either 4K releases. The artwork is different though on the actual disc.

Do you want the "TV Cut", or do you want the theatrical cut with the additional shot-for-TV scenes added in? I'm curious.

I have the 35th anniversary “digibook” so I wasn’t sure if I’d upgrade to this 4K. I put a pickup order, and I am so glad I did. This is one of the coolest steelbook releases I’ve gotten in some time.

I want the theatrical cut with the additional shot for TV scenes added in. I'm assuming that the "TV Cut" you mentioned would be a censored cut right? I have Halloween (Extended Edition) DVD from 2000/2001 but I'm not sure if its the theatrical cut with tv footage or the censored for broadcast version.

It sucks to hear about the scumbag sellers, but it's nice to see another Pat the NES Punk viewer here.

That DVD is the extended cut. The only time the TV cut was released was on VHS when it was mistakenly released instead of the extended version.

Interesting. It’s too bad all of the various cuts aren’t available on UHD, or at least BD.

Can you (or anyone else who knows) please post what DVD version has the extended cut?

So the 4k disc in this new gorgeous steelbook is the exact same as the previous 4k release right? The one with the slipcover? I am now losing track as to which disc is where and which disc has what color coding haha

That's impossible. You can't have a theatrical version of a movie, with added scenes from the TV version inserted. They will have to be two different versions. It's either one or the other.

Thats what I meant. I thought the extended cut was also a censored version.
