If you're that patient, more power to you. We could be waiting a significant amount of time, though. The most logical date would be early-ish 2019 when Ep. 9 will likely release on disc but there's zero indication that they're remastering the original trilogy or the prequels. There's a good chance we'll see a episode 7, 8, and 9 boxset by 2019 but I'll be surprised if we see a full Star Wars boxset anytime in the next 2 years.

I was hoping Disney was gonna buy the remaining A New Hope rights in 2020 so we could have a glorious 4K saga set but buying Fox Entertainment altogether seems a bit drastic of them doncha think?

Is there a reason they would release the latest one before the first one? I don't know the specs of TFA does it need a new scan or something?, it was pre UHD.

And you do realise that a 2.39 movie in a 2K DCP is 2048x858 resolution, right? Ol' Georgie boy wasn't as far off the mark as people think, but hey let's just trot out the usual "he shot in HD so it's useless!!" crap. Both II and III were finished on a 2K DI so they'd simply need to be upscaled just like the vast majority of 4K software has been thus far. Sure, the cameras used on II weren't employed in a wide colour gamut (they shot in 709) but there's so much CG that the colour volume of HDR will still ensure that they'll have a broadened palette to choose from when regrading it. And III was shot on better cameras which captured an improved gamut along with proper 12-bit 4:4:4 video so there should be plenty of dynamic range to play with, again inclusive of the vastness of the CG coverage.

It's a great looking movie to this day, you wouldn't believe it was only three years since Episode II. Technology moves fast.

A digital code would suffice for the short-term. These new movies haven't been super rewatchable for me honestly.

In my mind the prequels don’t exist. They were never made so just give me the originals, TFA, and Rogue.

Episode III is a good movie better than Return of the jedi. I remember when it came out back in the day what a disappointment especially after Empire strikes back. People like to rip on the prequel stuff and I agree I don't like the first 2 but it's not like the originals were perfect and the prequels were all suck.

I'm actually most excited to get the Prequels in UHD than the originals, since the OT will probably be the SEs anyway. Just treat Phantom Menace right

Well, patience isn’t so much it. It’s more that I’ve watched them all a billion times and the current editions I have on blu Ray look very good. We do watch the entire series pretty much every year and if that has to be on standard bluray for a while then we’ll "suffer" through it. My OLED makes everything look freeging great anyways.

It's Star Wars, they're not terrible. Some of the things in it are terrible though the same could be said about TFA and Rogue One IMO.

Anyway I'll happily buy all SW movies on UHD.

Yeah, I'd love to see it done right. And with the theatrical version included too if only so we lose those SD-quality scenes that were put back in but hey, dis is Star Wars after all. It just wouldn't be right if we weren't getting ****ed over regarding the original cut.

Hey, people want them, that’s great, I like movies people hate so it’s all good. I hope that if they are released they will do what they did when the BD’s came out, offer multiple sets. I can’t bring myself to owing the prequels again.

TFA & Rogue will look stunning in 4K.
