Bought the BD for like $5 within the last year and still haven't opened it. I think that'll suffice for me with this movie. But glad to see Paramount churning out catalogue titles.

They were. But it was only after we got them in the trilogy set.

If we get The Godfather trilogy this year, I shall be most happy.

Hopefully, a potential Dolby Atmos re-mix will improve the deficiencies of the 5.1 track. Gump is almost a 3.1 track as is and it has multiple scenes that would shine in full surround let alone immersive object 3D sound. The music mix of the excellent score was also very thin and strident.

Would Zemeckis let them? Doesn't seem to be an Atmos fan, he even did Allied in 5.1.

The second in my top 5 all time favorite movies finally coming to 4K! Now WB, where’s my Lord of the Rings.

Yesssss.. You just wish more titles were from Paramount, given 2017 and '18 so far

Re: Audio. Sorry guys. Paramount probably want to do it but Zemeckis won't let them tamper with his directorial choice of 5.1 surround. The mix could also only be updated within original intent, by extension requiring an original sound designer oversee/supervise the remix (Like a Gary Rydstrom has done with Terminator 2) -- It's on Randy Thom as to any upgrade within director vision.

I'm so excited for this movie to get a DV treatment and scan in the ballpark of Unforgiven -- Don't much mind it won't be Atmos as I think it would be a miracle to see that eventuate, and have hope the remix happens to bring more appeal to the title.

I hope Zemeckis isn't involved in this instance. He's like Chris Nolan in that he has no ear for sound.

I'd figure next year for the 25th anniversary.

Hey, know what else has a 25th anniversary next year? Do you? True Lies!!! Should just jump right to 4k and skip the regular blu-ray. Also Speed 1, The Mask, and Pulp Fiction.

Also, 2019 is the 25th anniversary of the first TNG Star Trek AND the 40th anniversary of ST:TMP.

None of those will probably be released and we'll just get Forrest Gump in a 24th anniversary edition.

Don't tell the skipping the blu ray part to the group on here that doesn't want to upgrade to 4k yet. They get pretty angry lol. I'm hoping a complete Tarantino collection gets released in 4k to coincide with his final film hitting theaters at the very latest. Cause that's a long wait

I'm going to eventually double dip on Gladiator and Forrest Gump. These are on my current wishlist for this year.
Tombstone (25th Anniversary) 4K
Halloween (40th Anniversary) 4K

Both would be great, but I haven't heard anything from Anchor Bay about supporting UHD BD and Disney is pretty much non-existent on their catalog titles.

Just have the DVD for this, never got the blu. So easy upgrade for me.

As for other movies mentioned in this thread, I would love Speed, it's one of my favorite movies. It would be a quadruple dip, but hey.

Unless Fox releases it before Disney's takeover, I doubt you ever will.

Just seems the quality of movies coming to the 4K format is better this time around.
They're releasing more recent titles, but very few bonafide classics. Maybe a smattering like Kwai and 2001, but that's it so far.

It is definitely looking really positive between Sony and Paramount for widening the appeal of UHD adoption. 4K TV is already saturating the market anyone in for a new TV will be getting the latest generation at least.. if likely not the higher end performing for HDR/WCG.

But mass amounts of ppl had cheap LCD's in blu-ray era and it only benefits us all if they (like then for regular BD) buy UHD discs of these staples of Home Video that are bombarding 2018
