I wondered if by chanching to the "real world" with a modern look they may have changed to digital by how clean season 3 looks. But no, season 3 is also shot on film (some difficult to shoot takes may be digital 'though with fake grain added for consistency), I hope we get a 4K DI this time.
There seems to be no consensus about how season 2 was finished, some say it got a 4K DI, others say it's a 2K upconverted to 4K just like season 1.

I'm shocked to say I actually agree with Geoffrey on this...

Season 3 through the HBO Amazon add-on looks really clean...should be a great UHD showcase if done right

More than likely HBO is just continuing with a season three release because it's their biggest show right now outside of Succession which would probably tank on 4K just like Castle Rock. Miniseries like Watchman and Chernobyl in 4K would be nice but wouldn't boost HBO subs like Westworld which is a continuing series.

To whatever extent it matters, HBO doesn't appear to be handling the home video releases of Westworld themselves. Westworld is coming directly from Warner, unlike, say, Game of Thrones and Chernobyl, which are under HBO Home Entertainment. (Or, at least, I don't see any prominent mention of HBO Home Entertainment on my two Westworld UHD sets the way I do with other HBO series.)

I’m thinking HBO will have a bunch if it’s shows 4K DV/HDR10 for the release of HBOMAX, much less “risk” involved with releasing it that way and gives a reason for people to sign up (exclusive 4K HDR content).

The 1st two releases for Westworld were very good and this season even via lowly streaming tops both of them (set wise). This should be another winner if they handle it the same way.

still no word on whether HBO Max will have 4K Dolby Vision/HDR10 support at launch?

DC Universe starting offering 4K HDR almost a year ago so HBO Max having at least that much if not also Dolby is a given. We are really overdue for some info on HBO Max with May being less than 3 weeks away.

Yeah, I got the SteelBooks once it appeared that the standard slipbox of Season Two was cancelled.

If the SteelBooks continue their current trend then I figure something like this will be the front of it:

Thumbs up to Warner. Most of the current tv shows I buy on disc are WB shows. They all go on good sales... eventually. E.g, all their superhero shows on Blu-ray were $10 a few weeks ago. Yes, please!

I'll definitely get season 3 when it hits $25.

No one has any idea yet. Please tell me you're not doing that thing of taking the placeholder info on this site as gospel...

When will this likely get a release? Didn’t the other seasons get a December release?

I’m planning on starting S1 this weekend.
