![]() Thanks for that CYMBOL... I just about pissed myself laughing, once I got what you were on about (It’s a creeper). Dooby vision is still illegal in Australia, but it has been decriminalised when viewed in small amounts. ![]() Saw Clerks for the first time, many years ago, in Dooby Vision. Turned a funny movie into an absolutely hilarious one... ![]() ![]() Now, for what I actually came here for: It has been mentioned that ”It”used a 2K DI. Can anybody point out the source of that info? |

What I don't understand is that when I skip to the chapter that begins with 'A Film by Peter Parker' it's not too bright, but if I start before that point and let it play naturally, it IS extremely bright. |

The 2K to 4K upscaling debate reminds me of the discussion around shows like The Simpsons S13-17, having the show upscaled to 1080p.
The process is refined and done in such a way that it is way better than any Blu-Ray upscaling device on a machine. Hence, why I am pissed that The Simpsons S18 has come out... As DVD only (like Family Guy). I have compared a stream of Family Guy-Simpsons (1080p/60) crossover against the upscaled DVD. The clear winner is the native 1080p stream. If one were to watch a 2K DI Movie 1080p Blu-Ray upscaled to 2160p and do direct comparisons with it’s UHD version, there would be telltale signs that the 4K copy is superior. Just like with DVD/BD, where over 99.5% of Blu-Rays easily look better than the corresponding Upscaled DVD. The only exceptions are when they seriously stuff up a Blu-Ray transfer (eg. The Dish https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=291335 ). To say you might as well just watch an 1080p Blu-Ray upscaled to 4K and get the same PQ as a 2160p Blu-Ray (when watching a 2K DI film) is bullshit. There should always be a more refined and superior picture, even if it is a slight uptick; Unless there is something seriously wrong with the HEVC transfer. Here in Australia, It UHD comes out 1-2 weeks after the BD release. I will definitely be waiting for the UHD release. While having 2K DI’s is not ideal for the 4K Blu-Ray format, it still beats watching an upscaled 1080p Blu-Ray. ![]() |

For those interested in seeing it now....Walmart is offering it on instawatch for both the BR and UHD purchases. Since I'm not a steelbook collector, it seemed like a good opportunity for my son to see it while on break.
The instawatch of "IT" went live yesterday. |

I watched the ITunes DV version last night, thought it was good, but my experience is not great so take my opinion as such. Ill be picking up the Extended on disc if it ever comes out on UHDBR. For the grading it seemed most of "highlights" for HDR were used for sunlight in darkened rooms.

Yes, I bought my copy on-line. On vudu it's the hdx version of the film. I wish they did the uhd instawatch when you buy the uhd physical media. I have my walmart account tied to the vudu account, so the movie showed fairly quickly in my vudu library.

Are you talking about lossless audio? If that is the case then the answer is usually no. None of the majors I believe (only unsure of FandangoNow downloads) offer lossless audio. The best you can hope to get is lossy Atmos (DD+ variant).

Can anyone verify what the final steelbook artwork is? I've seen one featuring Pennywise and another with the unimpressive shadow-in-the sewers photo. Hoping Best Buy uses the former and not the latter.

Damn! I love the artwork on both the regular 4K version and the steelbook....no idea which one i would get....but too bad i'm not getting either one because I refuse to double dip. They got me with The Force Awakens (3D), The Martian (extended cut), Split (4K), and god knows what else i'm forgetting...
