I don’t get Zimmer. He’s not terrible, but I find him incredibly repetitive.

Just a quick note that I’m flying like Superman, 34000 feet up. Highest elevation post on the site?

No, Florida. I did fly to/from Ireland last summer but I just had text messaging.

Interstellar is his best score and it's not even close.

My favorite music is his Joker theme from TDK.

Speaking of Superman IV, it's a shame that the first two movies spoiled people into overlooking the fact that IV has to this day the most comic-accurate representation of Lex Luthor in live action.
As much as we like Gene Hackman's performance in I and II, that is not Lex, it's just your typical real estate-seeking USA oligarch. I appreciate how Superman IV tried more to honor the source material instead of heavily altering it like the first two films: being more arrogant, using chemistry against Superman, and getting involved in real life politics? That is Lex Luthor straight out of a comic book! If only the director's cut of Superman IV would get released for the rest of Reeve and Hackman's performance...

The story of Superman IV is absolutely heartbreaking. On a fresh rewatch recently, you can tell a lot of good intentions went into it.

To be fair, like the Daily Planet in Superman IV most people overexaggerate or straight-up misinform about the film's production in order to create sensationalism.
Most of those who worked on the movie had fun and they were sure they made the best Superman film (and I say they were right, judging by IV's script, which is public).
It's just that strange decisions made during the editing process resulted in a divisive final product. But nonetheless, I think IV being the one that both feels the most Superman-esque and has the best music in the quadrilogy are already respectable milestones.
I think releasing Superman IV's director's cut would be nice for the people who worked on the movie. Clive Mantle and Mark Pillow (actors of Nuclear Man 1 and Nuclear Man 2, respectively) are supporters of the movement for it.

Superman IV is nowhere near the quality of the original, or even 2 and 3. It’s the only Superman movie I can’t watch.

Back in the day, there was a reviewer for The Chicago Reader (whose name escapes me) who described Superman IV as being in the spirit of Silver Age comics stories from talent like Otto Binder. Faint praise, as the critic didn't like the movie (I don't blame them), but I thought the comparison was insightful.

I think the movie starts out well, with the Russian cosmonaut scene, followed by Clark selling the family home.

After that...

I tried re-watching the original BD of IV from the old boxset before the UHDs were released. I couldn't even get through it and just own the first three on UHD BD.
