If I got the 2007 Blu-ray, would the mono sync perfectly with this release? Do they have the same opening logos?

Oh, I just checked the included Blu-ray and saw that it has the mono. Thank god for 4K movies coming with old outdated Blu-rays instead of newly mastered ones. Gonna see now if they sync.

They won't. At least not without some work. The 4K movie opens with the Lionsgate logo... and I think the frame rate is slightly different.

Why would the frame rate be different? Aren’t all 24 fps movies encoded at 23.976 fps on disc?

Matches perfectly with a 21 second delay. Exactly 21 seconds. They're both 23.976 frames per second.

I'm just checking some scenes now to see if there are different sound effects or if it's just the mix.

It's funny. The Atmos track adds additional crickets on top of the existing crickets when our villain is outside the window, watching the protagonist's friend.

There are different sound effects. The remix has added cricket noises and a different sound effect when Myers pops out of the backseat before strangling Annie.

I've tried multiple times to sync it, and while it would match in early scenes, later in the film it would be off by several frames. After about three hours, I gave up on it.

The release from this thread? I'm going back and forth between the tracks and am still not noticing any mismatches. It's difficult to be certain because much of the dialogue is slightly out of sync anyway, being dubbed after filming, and I'm not that good at noticing this stuff anyway. I set the delay in MKVToolnix. Here's a seven second clip from the ending with both tracks, the ending being the best indicator, because of how many mismatches can happen in the total running time.

Not all. StudioCanal uses exactly 24 fps on a lot of their releases.

Hm. Does that create any anomalies during playback?

Movie theaters show movies in 24 fps, right? And when they’re put on disc aren’t the movies a little bit shorter due to the slightly lower frame rate?

It did on some older Blu-ray players. Any newer player should be fine.

23.976 fps would make the movie a few seconds longer.

Gave this a watch in light of John Carpenter's birthday. An all around worthwhile upgrade from my 2007 blu ray imo but one thing I noticed (though not in relation to the picture.)

When Lynda and Bob are in the van before going inside Annie's house, Bob says, "Ok first I take your clothes off, then you rip my clothes, then we'll rip Lindsey's clothes off, yeah I think I got it."

....... wait a minute... are you talking about little Lindsey? Did he mess up his line or something and they kept it in by mistake?

He's a little drunk and only half listening to her.

lol YUP. 58:30 Scene begins. Even says so in the subtitles. Must have been a drunk twisted joke? I listened to the LPCM 5.1 track on the Blu-Ray that came with the 4K...I don't care for the added darkness of the 4K especially in that van scene I see less of Bob's face and surroundings on the 4k plus the Mono on the 4k is a fold down. Like has been stated for the 505th time in this thread. Oh yeah and JC fleetwood looks black on the 4k and dark brown on the Blu-Ray...tomato potato

I think it was just a bit of dark humour. I doubt they were implying he's a paedophile.

I don't claim to know if he messed up his line or anything but I always took it as a joke in bad taste. I think maybe it wasn't maybe as touchy of a subject since everyone had that "one uncle" kinda thing. Who knows.

He's making a joke. Obviously nowadays that kind of joke would raise eyebrows, unless you're South Park. Carpenter had no problem killing a child in Assault on Precinct 13, so I'm sure he didn't think anything of it at the time of writing or shooting the movie.

lol true I didn't stop to think he had been drinking, well at any rate it was an amusing eyebrow raising moment I hadn't thought of.

Otherwise a still near perfect film, so many of those long single shots are so unsettling (among other things).
