Oh, I just checked the included Blu-ray and saw that it has the mono. Thank god for 4K movies coming with old outdated Blu-rays instead of newly mastered ones. Gonna see now if they sync.

They won't. At least not without some work. The 4K movie opens with the Lionsgate logo... and I think the frame rate is slightly different.

I'm just checking some scenes now to see if there are different sound effects or if it's just the mix. |

I've tried multiple times to sync it, and while it would match in early scenes, later in the film it would be off by several frames. After about three hours, I gave up on it.

Movie theaters show movies in 24 fps, right? And when they’re put on disc aren’t the movies a little bit shorter due to the slightly lower frame rate? |

It did on some older Blu-ray players. Any newer player should be fine.

Gave this a watch in light of John Carpenter's birthday. An all around worthwhile upgrade from my 2007 blu ray imo but one thing I noticed (though not in relation to the picture.)
When Lynda and Bob are in the van before going inside Annie's house, Bob says, "Ok first I take your clothes off, then you rip my clothes, then we'll rip Lindsey's clothes off, yeah I think I got it." ....... wait a minute... are you talking about little Lindsey? Did he mess up his line or something and they kept it in by mistake? |

He's making a joke. Obviously nowadays that kind of joke would raise eyebrows, unless you're South Park. Carpenter had no problem killing a child in Assault on Precinct 13, so I'm sure he didn't think anything of it at the time of writing or shooting the movie.

lol true I didn't stop to think he had been drinking, well at any rate it was an amusing eyebrow raising moment I hadn't thought of.
Otherwise a still near perfect film, so many of those long single shots are so unsettling (among other things). |
