It would also be nice if they were to dig up the original sound mix for Return. As far as I know, every disc release since 2000 or so has used the botched remix that's inexplicably missing a number of sound effects. (Only Anchor Bay's very first DVD from 1998 or so had the original, fuller-sounding audio.)

One of the best 4K upgrades. I miss the mono, but I at least thought the downmix sounded better on the UHD than it did on the previous disc.

It's so bizarre, like a whole Foley later was accidentally deleted or something. It's really obvious during the opening credits (lightning flashes with no thunderclap), and when the security guard is taking the attendants down the hallway in the next scene (that part sounds almost like raw production audio).

And there's just a muted, anemic atmosphere throughout. If I had been one of the sound designers on this movie, I'd be really upset that this is the way it's been heard for the past 20 years.

What's weird is that initial DVD release had a perfectly good 5.1 remix that retained all the sound effects and wasn't all that different from the stereo. I don't know why AB thought they had to redo it in the first place.

Not the one I had. The 2.0 was a downmix.

Nope. It's the same audio as the Anchor Bay release. They have the better video presentation, though.

Was Dean Cundey hinting another remaster of 1? I didn’t read it that way. He says top secret. I think the background is meant as a hint not a give away. My guess is Halloween II and III.
