Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered for 26.99. I actually ordered just the first film from base a couple of days back. I cancelled that and went for this instead.

What's up with the horrible artwork on AppleTV for The Matrix? Now it doesn't match the other two movie's artwork.

Warner re-did about 15-20 titles in that style, debuting, I believe, earlier this week as part of a $7.99 Adventure sale on iTunes.

i got this yesterday from Amazon with a slip. It was surprisingly wrapped in the plastic as well. Did WB do this will all copies? Because none of my other warner 4k releases had the slip wrapped over.

All slipped Matrix 4K copies I've seen since it's release were sealed around the slip. I did see one copy without a slip at Bestbuy once, not long ago.

I've seen Warner Brothers' 4Ks of the three Christopher Nolan Batman films have the slip inside the shrinkwrap many times.

I rewatched Matrix again and loved it, but 2 and 3? Sorry. I just can't.

Also, can someone explain how Matrix 2 and 3 came out in the same year (2003)?

They had been filmed and finished back to back and were released six months apart in 2003.

Essentially it was meant to be 1 film. WB wanted to release it a year later and market it as a full blown sequel Wachowskis wanted to release them a month or two apart, they compromised on 6 months instead.

Quote:
LW: Everyone was like, "Make the second [film] in the trilogy the exact same as the first. Why can't it just be the same? Why can't you just do it?" And we're like, "No, the point is that the opposite is true in the second one, and yes, it's gonna rub you the wrong way. But that's what we're interested in as artists." The second and third [movies] were the story for us. We explained to Warner Bros. what we wanted to do with the trilogy, and the first biggest thing was like, "Don't kill Neo! Just don't! You can't kill Neo! You can't kill Trinity! What are you doing?" It was never like somebody said, "Do what you want. Go forth, Wachowskis, and make whatever you want!"

AW: If we had been given that, the films would've been released a lot differently. We wanted [Reloaded] to come out, and then [Revolutions] to come out just as the box office was just starting to taper off, like, two months later. We don't want people to have to wait. And Warner Bros. was adamant that they wait a year. We got them to meet halfway, and it was released six months later.

LW: We were interested in resisting also the sort of financial structure that's around sequel-ization, which is essentially, you turn your story into a product that you just keep repeating. The whole concept of The Matrix was that we wanted to make the audience aware of what movies do to you, do to your consciousness, and to be somewhat compelled to follow Neo in the same way that he has to go through this struggle [over] his own relationship to his world. We wanted audience members to feel that struggle too. It wasn't ever meant to feel like a repeating "sequel-ized" thing. By splitting it apart, I think it raised that expectation.

I think if they had stopped The Matrix Reloaded at the part for the plan for to get through the door with just a basic description instead of the shortened "recap" of the actual events (which was way too short given the amount of interesting Matrix action that those scenes could have contained) and used those scenes in full detail in Revolutions plus shortened the attack on Zion (which went on way too long, IMO to the point of boredom) the Revolutions Movie would have been at least tolerable, even with the same blah ending. There was just so little actual "Matrix" in the 3rd Matrix movie. I didn't pay to watch Attack of the Giant Robotic Squid Monsters. I wanted more Matrix action. The ending was neither here nor there compared to the middle fill part where I wanted to take a nap.

Reloaded could have stood less Cave Dance and Zion worshiper crap (watching Neo peak wasn't a high point for me either) as well. Those scenes loaded down what was otherwise a pretty good Matrix sequel (minus the rushing bit at the end and cliff hanger).

Considering how underwhelming Matrix 2 and 3 were, I'm not excited for the new one that supposedly coming.

I'm already happy with the John Wick series. Chapter IV is gonna be epic.

I really don't care for Revolutions except for the Neo/Smith fight. Everything else is just meh.

Made me laugh when someone in the comments of one of the 'fake HDR' videos said to do Matrix next because they thought it looked awful, along with people mentioning several other movies that actually have excellent HDR, which is kinda the problem with starting a crusade like this. Even if done with the best of intentions the people taking it as gospel will start seeing the boogeyman everywhere they turn, mostly because their TV isn't up to the job of actually showing proper HDR content, never mind the fake stuff, which goes to the heart of where Vinny T's crusade should really be focusing on IMO: getting the widespread HDR viewing experience up to spec first so everyone's on the same playing field at least.

Really like the point he made that nothing can really do this disc justice. When HDR/WCG are used properly it'll mean 10 years from now we'll be able to watch it even better without a re-release!

Matrix, the disc with “true hdr”, which is ahead of the time just like the film (I will have to watch the 3 films set again)

Another nice review by Vincent!

What is it with this guy? Jesus Christ, I get you said it yourself that you're a Nit man, but this is a bit much if I do say so.

Maybe it's time for an Intervention for your pal Vincent.

I wonder when current $30000 technology will be cheap enough for everyone to enjoy The Matrix WCG and HDR in full quality.
