A Freudian slip, perhaps.

What I know about philosophy you could fit onto the back of a postage stamp. Ergo, concomitantly, vis-a-vis, I love guns and action and junk like that so that's where I get my jollies when I watch these films. The Merovingian droning on about orgasm cake for 10 minutes, not so much.

I'm sure you know more than you realize. And I agree with you about the cake. Even tho the 2nd and 3rd films do present some philosophical concepts, I think the ones covered in the first film are the most interesting. And I love the guns & action aspect as well. And despite what some have said about the music, I love it too

I think the 1st Matrix is a great presentation of Plato's cave, which I think is one of the most important concepts in philosophy.

Also, to me the Matrix has always seemed like a good representation of the relationship between citizens and the government and its media propaganda machine. The citizens are being fed this version of reality that we don't know we're being fed because we've grown up in it. The propaganda in films and tv programs us with this reality (our assumptions & biases that we don't even know we have) that the architects of society want for us, to keep us entertained and distracted from what's really going on and what's really important (which is essentially the allegory of Plato's cave). And they couldn't have this empire that they want without the man power of the masses, so we are like batteries powering the machine.

I still love the music too, the Rob Dougan stuff especially. Hands up all those who left the DVD of Matrix Revisited on a loop just for the menu music!

*raises hand *

Edit: Wait, I thought I read "The Matrix DVD", not "The Matrix Revisited DVD.
I own revisited as part of the Ultimate Collection on DVD, so is the Revisited disc in the collection the same as the standalone? If so, I'll put it in right now to hear the music you're talking about!

I used to listen enjoy having the regular DVD menu loop for a little while back in the day.

At beginning of the post some people were talking about the Dutch trilogy release. The seller was absolutely sure their info was right. I obviously wasn't so I contacted Warner yesterday. Surprise! There is no Trilogy coming out (yet). I pointed out Bol.com does sell it as the Trilogy. Today I received a phonecall from Bol.com that they made an error and it will only be the first one on 4K and normal bluray (no download code).

Thought so, thanks for sharing. Order cancelled.

The included DVD copy definitely makes it worth the price.

The sequels (and preferably also The Animatrix) are the main "tat" I want.

So, only the first one after all. Not a problem for me for sure, but I kinda expected (not necessarily needed) the whole trilogy after all these franchise packages.

It's unusual not to release 2 & 3. Oh well.

It is, but maybe they want to gauge demand, and then release the sequels on a lower quantity run?... Other than that, I don't get waiting to release 2&3 until later.

I'd pay $140 US MSRP, $99 on launch day for the Collection of those.

Do you know if the Revisited Bluray has the same menu as the Revisited DVD?

Just got an email from that Dutch website, it's a mistake indeed. There is no UHD trilogy. Was to be expected, but still disappointing nevertheless...

Really hope we're not stuck with just the first one for too long.
