My introduction to Halloween was the Netflix Blu-ray in August 2019.

Might have seen parts on TV when I still watched TV in the mid '00s, but I don't count that.

Basically feeling the same. I'm already happy with the original poster art from the 15-disc set cases, so I'm not too bothered that they didn't just print those again for these. If the covers are reversible, I'll make the decision when the time comes whether to flip to those or retain these as sorta "gimmick" covers. I'm also in no rush at this early stage to preorder before Shout has even officially announced them and would be happy to get more details about the content, whether these will have slipcovers and if so whether the slipcover art will mirror these, or whether they're going to do any kind of combo packaging first. As for purchasing, I'd like to ask someone with experience: Is there any benefit in waiting for Shout to list it themselves and then buying it directly from them? I've heard that Shout sometimes throws in perks if you buy direct, or ships early.

Shout used to guarantee titles would ship two weeks early (sometimes earlier) but they stopped doing that when COVID happened. (They still ship titles earlier than street date when applicable, there's just no guarantee on how early). Their collector's editions (which these certainly will be) usually come with limited exclusive posters of the new artwork. Occasionally there's been other perks, such as lithographs for box sets. A few of their titles have also had a second slipcover and/or a NECA-exclusive.

The flip side is that Shout's pricing seems to be higher than most major retailers, so it's up to you if you want the goodies or not.

Then I'll consider it when they actually announce. I'm not impatient and frivolous with money to the degree of preordering five movies before the distributor has even officially acknowledged their forthcoming release.

Compared to Shout's old cover for From Beyond, these are all masterpieces.

I'd love someone to do a cover that is a take on this shot:

It always has been and always will be one of the most affecting and evocative shots in any horror movie and for me it defines what is so creepy and unsettling about the movie and Michael Myers himself.

Sure the cover is not good, but I think Friday The 13th's recent French cover is the absolute bane of all existence. Halloween got lucky.

[Show spoiler]
I can only assume whoever designed this has never actually seen the original Friday the 13th.

I had such high hopes for Scream's 4K titles after They live and Prince of Darkness used the original poster art for their slipcover. I figured they were going to go that route for all of their 4K titles.
Boy was I wrong, these are godawful lol.
Oh well, that will save me lots of money. :P
I might grab there in a few years on sale without the slip, there's no hurry.

The worst is, Halloween 1978 has one of the best poster of all time. It's the kind of iconic poster like Jaws or Alien that people recognize right away. Why change perfection is beyond me.

If the original art is on the reverse you could simply flip them and chuck the slips or sell them. Win win!

I always hate it when horror movie posters put the killer front and center. It loses that sense of mystery and intrigue of what the killer is and what they might do next.

When it comes to slasher artwork, Matthew Peak's posters for the Elm Street franchise are unparalleled. Magnifique!

I'd post the rest, but cba.
