True, true. It seems to me (from everything I've read) that if Ghibli keeps going onwards then it will be on an individual project by project basis, meaning they've scaled back from full-time salary to almost part time contracting. At least that's what I've taken from everything I've read about Ghibli at the moment. So I think there is some truth to that. That's it percieved as a bigger issue than what it may be. I do hope he does return at some point and makes another film with them though, I think Marnie was a strong effort and definitely showed he has much potential. |

I could maybe understand the point if it was a short or a series, but it's a full feature length film, just like the others. So Sin can pretend his collection is complete, but we all know otherwise. |

Well, I now know what the hold up was with my DHL shipment of Marnie... both box ends were blown out...
![]() ![]() But, the glue was still holding the cardboard shingle to the box... ![]() And everything miraculously survived unscathed... ![]() ![]() |

I'll have to remember the art book tip if I need to order a single movie! Glad it all made it to you in good shape.

Yes, the advantage is the dimensions of an "art of" book makes sure the digipak isn't anywhere near the sides of the shipping box if it is crushed - but I would recommend only ordering one book along with a Ghibli digipak, - two was just way too heavy, and probably the reason the thin cardboard box got destroyed in shipping. The entire package was listed at 2.68 Kg, or about 6 lbs...

![]() I believe somebody earlier mentioned ordering a magazine along with a single BD which might be most ideal considering the weight. Those books you got were so close to the edge, that I'd in turn be very worried about the books arriving in good condition, lol. But at least they package them with the plastic wrapped to the cardboard... It's outrageous how Amazon in the US just let very nice and expensive books rattle around in an oversized box with virtually no protection. And then they have those little surveys about their packaging, but never bother to change anything. I should learn not to order books by them, but since they offer the largest selection and lowest prices by far, I always end up ordering from them and then regretting... But I digress... lol |

![]() ![]() Size comparison Between the Only Yesterday artbook. Newtype on the bottom and Bomb on top. An issue of Newtype is an inch wider than the Only Yesterday artbook. Bomb is an inch and half shorter than the Only Yesterday artbook. New Type and Smile combined weigh less than the artbook. |

My copy of Marnie is hopefully turning up today. Bought a few CDs as well, so hopefully it'll arrive in good condition. Really excited to see it, as I really enjoyed the book, and I thought Yonebayashi's Arietty was great.

![]() It's probably fair to say that all of Ghibli's 'feature-length' films designed initially for theatrical showings in cinemas/movie theatres are now on BD though. I still want Ocean Waves though and some kind of importable release of On Your Mark. Would love the museum shorts, but I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon, and maybe never on Blu-ray. |

I've got over 30 JP blu-rays, DVDs and CDs in my Save for Later queue, so I could have ordered a few of those to ship with Marnie instead - but I needed the books. ![]() But, I really don't need to worry about shipping the fragile Ghibli digipaks any longer, since I have all of them now - unless they release Ocean Waves or some of the other pre-Ghibli titles yet, there won't be any more of these for me to order... ![]() |

I watched my When Marnie Was There Blu-ray this morning, I loved it. Stunningly beautiful art and animation, great music, and a haunting and touching story, fairly faithfully adapted. As others have said, it wouldn't be a bad film to go out on if it's the last that Ghibli produces, as much as I hope that isn't the case.
