I'm sure if everyone loved the artwork they wouldn't be nearly as pissed about it. But maybe this is a good thing and they can take this as a sign they need to thrash those artworks and just go with the original posters we all love. I can't believe those actually got approved by them they're awful and so amateurish looking.

I wish so, the current artwork is terrible. I'd gladly take one of their old school floating heads pieces than these. It surprises me that they even went with new art instead of the original posters like They Live and Prince of Darkness. At the least I can only hope they add the original posters as reverse art, but if they follow in the line of Deer Hunter.....

They really need to get better at artwork design. It seems like all these other labels (especially Vinegar Syndrome) do a much better job of capturing a movie's tone and garnering interest through the art than Shout. These Halloween covers are a new low for them but they've put out some stinkers the last few years like Event Horizon. All the potential for a striking design and they come up with that?
At the end of the day it's more about what's on the discs but when the packaging matches the quality of the contents it makes collecting these things even more rewarding.

This is a bad omen for these releases isn't it? It was already off to a rocky start cause of the controversies of the last release.

Honestly, SF should see this as a blessing in disguise. I'm usually a huge fan of their exclusive artwork but these covers for Halloween are bad. After the gorgeous artwork they had made for the 2018 Halloween steelbooks, I didn't expect them to drop the ball this badly. There's luckily still enough time for them to go back and change these, because I'm sorry, but I expected better for an iconic hallmark in the horror genre.

I wonder if the releases will be delayed now that they saw the negative reactions and decided to change the artwork.

Their artwork for the Friday the 13th box set is absolutely fantastic.

Know your consumer base. Just put the original poster on the cover. Sheesh.

It’s to Shouts advantage that this leak happened in my opinion. Imagine the official announcement spreading all over the news sites with those covers… Not a good look for what would normally be one of Shouts biggest releases of the year.

Big agree. Shout only seems to work with the same 3-4 artists recently and while their style might fit a certain movie, it completely fails for others. It looks like the Halloween covers might be from Joel Robinson. His artwork for HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, MY BLOODY VALENTINE and TEXAS CHAINSAW 2 are amazing.

On the other end, these are pretty garish and terrible.

I’d favor original cover too, and for all the movies.

Well, most of the time VS does a great job. The good news for them is that Televised Terror Vol. 1 is no longer the absolute worst cover art of 2021!

So…I thought the general consensus was the original UHD release of Halloween was very good? So what are the odds SF outdoes the Lionsgate 4K disc?

The only Scream Factory release where I actually use the new cover is Escape from LA. That is a fine cover and better than the original poster. The Escape from NY is pretty good too. Besides those, every other release I own with a new cover is dogshit.

I'd rather have the original artwork over any of those

If SF includes both a dedicated Atmos track and the original mono, that would outdo the Lionsgate disc.

Same. Enough already with the candy colors and the comic book style digital illustrations. I don’t think any of those are particularly better than the new art for the Halloween releases; it’s all the same aesthetic, basically.
