The guy is insane, i don't see the point in trying to rationalise him or his behaviour.

Yikes I didn't like this movie at all. I don't get to say this often but I'm soooooooo glad I redboxed this one. The lead actress in this film is awful!

My wife already told me why I'm wrong. I just maintain that what the filmmakers were going for they failed at because her character was poorly scripted and directed from the start. And since no other characters were properly fleshed out or even given much screen time this movie is boring.

Can you elaborate what they were going for, and where they failed? What was wrong with the script?

I enjoyed it and appreciated the focused and direct story, so it will be really fascinating to see an exact opposite perspective...

Your just looking for an argument, since you are trying to cancel his opinion, because it differs from yours. She’s older and not attractive, compared to the leading man, so... why would he care about her staying or leaving... she has no talent or skills and is boring... he’s a genius, filthy rich and has a sweet house, etc... It’s just not believable. I know that beauty is more than skin deep, but.... come... on...! Brad Pitt wouldn’t do that.

I agree with this, I just didn’t sympathize with the characters nor care what happened. Barely any scares either, so this is easily my most disappointing movie this year. This film was definitely overhyped & I wanted to like it because of Leigh Whannell. Plus the movie is too damn dark picture wise.

It really isn't though. I just watched this (HDR10 --> 65" Sony X900E + Panny 820) and thought it looked fantastic and at no point did it look too dark. Sounds like a tone mapping issue.
