Some of those are made in conjunction with other production companies, sure, but Bruckheimer ain't as big as Marvel or Lucasfilm, not any more anyway. For me it's more that you don't need to put the Disney logo in front of Marvel or Lucasfilm. Pixar, well, that's long been associated with Disney even before they were bought outright so the logos are just the continuation of that. And Pirates and Tron are both pieces of original Disney IP, always have been, so why on earth wouldn't they have the logo at the head of the film?

Heck even the prequels opened with the Fox fanfare and yet Fox had no ownership or paid even a dime for those movies, not even the marketing if I remember correctly. All they had was a previously existing distribution deal. I think they main thing here is that Disney for some reason don't seem to want their logo to play in front of MCU and SW even though as the sole owner and distributor they would be entirely in their right to have their logo on there. I should add that I'm glad they don't have their Disney castle playing in front of SW though. I'd probably boo out loudly in the theater if ever I saw such a logo playing in front of a SW movie. Perhaps that's why they won't do it? ![]() |

Marvel characters: Spiderman - Sony holds the rights, now works in partnership with Disney also. (Individual films are by Sony.) X-men (all) & Fantastic Four - 20th Century Fox alone holds all the rights to these characters. The Incredible Hulk - Universal holds the rights for individual Hulk films? has ? deal with Disney also. Iron Man - Paramount made the first Iron Man film, sold the rights to the character to Disney (as far as I know). Captain America & the rest - Disney bought up Marvel film studios for all the characters that Marvel did not already have deals with, bought rights for Iron Man and has some kinds of partnerships/deals for Hulk (as of 2008 or 9) & Spiderman (as of 2017) Marvel Studios produces all Marvel film/TV, whomever pays for the individual titles is really just financing, (and maybe providing studio space), that can be Disney, Sony, 20th Century Fox, Netflix, ABC, etc. All of which are separate, with the exception of Sony, Sony owns the rights to the Spiderman character/franchise, and finally made a deal with Disney/Marvel to recast/refranchise Spiderman and have Spiderman included with the Disney/Marvel Avengers, (starting with Captain America Civll War), retaining the rights for individual films. Even though X-men & Fantastic Four are also part of the Avengers in the comics, Fox has kept the rights to those characters. So, now you can see Spiderman in Disney Marvel films, and Marvel characters Disney owns the rights to in Sony's Spiderman films, but, Fox is the only one with rights from Marvel for X-men & Fantastic Four. Marvel owns it all, but, each studio has contracts only for certain characters. This all comes out of the success of the original (Tobey Maguire) Spiderman (Sony) and X-men (20th Century Fox) films. The idea to keep doing Marvel characters and end up with The Avengers movie came after this success, and the success of the first Iron Man film, Disney saw the uptrend and possibilities for the future and decided to invest in it/captialize on it. Disney bought up rights to Iron Man from Paramount and made a deal with Marvel for the remaining characters, (although, The Incredible Hulk is a Universal film, not sure what the deal is between Universal & Disney for that character, I think Universal owns the rights for individual Hulk films, but, has some deal for Hulk in Disney/Marvel films.), and for a line of films that would lead up to an Avengers film and become the "Marvel Universe" even though, it's really only the "Disney/Marvel Universe" (& now Sony-Spiderman) because of the missing characters. Make sense? (I'm skipping the TV aspect of things, but, Disney does own ABC, with Marvel's first TV venture "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D".) (Anyone that knows better, please correct me.) Back in the '80s when Disney tried to get away from being considered only making films for children, Touchstone pictures was a brand they used to try to move away from that, and they didn't use the Disney logo there. They went through a learning experience to get ticket sales up out of a downtrend. (They also went through another learning experience when they bought Pixar, but, that's another story.) Ever since they mostly keep brands they own separate from the Disney name so as to keep/increase that audience. Disney bought Lucasfilm as a partnership so as to finance and profit from the brand, but, Lucasfilm is still Lucasflim. (Lucasfilm includes LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, and Skywalker Sound.) This is different from when companies do "hostile takeovers" or mergers and buy out a company only to take it over or merge it into it's own company, these studios/franchises are still separate entities, so as to keep their brands intact. "George Lucas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lucasfilm: “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come. Disney’s reach and experience give Lucasfilm the opportunity to blaze new trails in film, television, interactive media, theme parks, live entertainment, and consumer products.” " Disney Buys Lucasfilm... Does this help at all? |

ILM is a separate company now I think?

![]() You mentioned Fox putting their logo ahead of the SW prequels but there the situation was entirely reversed: LFL was the party that had all the power and the deal with Fox was no gimme, the prequels were being hawked around town (I think Disney were sniffing around even back then) and Lucas only went back to Fox because they had something he wanted, namely ownership of the original SW film (Lucas already owning Empire and Jedi). As much as I 100% agree with everyone about Disney plastering itself over the slips and covers of their films.... it's not going to stop me from buying them.
Black Panther is a DAY 1 and while the slip would look better without Movies Anywhere, it doesn't affect the actual movie. ![]() ![]() |

Dynamically flattened audio mixes on Disney releases is possibly the only thing you can truly count on in this still burgeoning format.
