People would be angry that that's not the version on the 4k disc.

Back on the subject on the potential success (or lack thereof) of releasing Resurrection and the Zombie Halloween movies..

Scream and Shout factory are always putting out obscure titles, especially horror titles.. You're gonna sit there and tell me they'd take a roll of a dice on House of Wax and Urban Legend but then not risk putting out movies from a far more successful and famous franchise like Halloween?

I’d even buy that doc if it were standalone a la Terror in the Aisles.

I highly doubt that doc will ever see the light of day. If it’s critical of TWC, the footage probably doesn’t exist anymore.

Urban Legend a “risky” investment???

The sequel maybe, but the first film is a relatively popular title in the late 90s slasher craze.

Hopefully this will have the original mono. That way folks like me can enjoy the (likely) improved Atmos audio and the less is more tribalists can enjoy the original audio (so can I). Shout did a decent job with Atmos in Prince of Darkness...they are no Studio Canal slouch...so their Atmos should improve upon the previous 7.1 unless they fumble.

After Amazon's factored in $27.99 for each, it looks like the final bill for me, after tax, will be about $138. Looks like I'm saving about $60 vs. Shout directly. I'm sure they'd be swell, but I'm not sure 5 Shout posters that I'll probably never hang are worth $12 each.

Me too. It feels more like the 3rd installment than any of the other ones and is a personal favorite.

Not saying the VHS had the correct color timing since I didn't see HALLOWEEN in theatres.. but I imagine it's closest to what the 35mm prints looked like.

The 35th blu-ray/Lionsgate 4K... the colors look way too muted to me. For example.. the day sequences look like it's always overcast... and I don't think it was supposed to look that way.
Yes, this is exactly my thinking. I haven’t played my mid-80s Media VHS in ages, and the uploads of scenes from it online aren’t very good quality, but the 2007 blu ray is closest to what I remember the VHS looking like when it was new. I watched it dozens and dozens of times back then, and it’s kind of seared in my memory.

By the way, does anyone know if the cover photo from the Japanese LD exists somewhere else besides the LD cover itself? I may want to create my own custom cover for this, and I like the way that LD looks. I’m talking about the one with Michael descending the staircase in the Wallace house, with the camera looking up the stairs at him straight on.

I'm a fan of the THX DVD color scheme even though it most likely never looked this way in 1978. I like the warmer daytime colors and colder looking blue night. I have the Lionsgate 4K release but I almost never watch it. I don't like the washed out colors and how dark it is during the day. I usually watch the Blu-Ray that came in the 4K release. It's the 2007 Blu-Ray and in some ways sort of resembles the THX DVD.

Amazon lowered the price of each to $27.99.

Does Amazon charge when pre-ordering or when they ship? I pre-ordered from them a few years ago but I can't remember when I was charged.

I still might spend the extra $1 each and pre-order from Diabolik. Amazon's packing is not the best.

Amazon charges when they ship. Hopefully, they will not ship ALL 5 movies in a bubble mailer.

This is my concern. Amazon either ships in a bubble mailer or they ship in a box with no packing material.

I like it color-wise, but it does feel overly-sharpened to me- and I'm not generally sensitive to these things. I'm hopeful this new release will have the definitive presentations of everything. Lord knows, I've bought my share of Halloween editions, so I'm ready to say this will be the last edition I buy. My middle-aged eyes are already having a hard time appreciating the dynamic glory of UHD's extra resolution and color presentation, so I'm already deciding I'm fine with what I have on plenty of titles...

There's more reason now than ever to release it, with the Weinsteins (mainly Bob) being portrayed in such a terrible light. They could play into what a scumbag he is.
