Unobstructed Views has them all for 38$, easily the best deal so far. It's still way too expensive, imo, so I only ordered the first 3 movies for now.

I’ve never heard of them. How are they for service, shipping, packaging, etc?

Not saying the VHS had the correct color timing since I didn't see HALLOWEEN in theatres.. but I imagine it's closest to what the 35mm prints looked like.

The 35th blu-ray/Lionsgate 4K... the colors look way too muted to me. For example.. the day sequences look like it's always overcast... and I don't think it was supposed to look that way.
Totally agree. I’m in the UK & here everyone loves autumn - it’s still warm but the sun isn’t quite so bright so theres a more golden warmer look to everything. I was very disappointed with the drab 4k when it came out a few years back - more bleak January than October! I do remember seeing the VHS at college (I studied film, & Halloween was one of the genre films we studied) & it looked good to me.

Personally, I hope so: blue cast for night scenes, warm tones for day.

I'm very tempted myself. I kind of want to know how the 4K transfer of Season of the Witch differs from the Steelbook release first, and what the new scan for the original film gives us now. It feels like a LONG wait until late September.

The LaserDisc mono track sounds miles better than the SF mono track."

Then you have this post with a link to a comparison of the Criterion Mono track vs the 5.1 mix we have had for years and years: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...ostcount=33887

Halloween (1978) - Original Mono vs. 5.1 Remix - YouTube
Wow, even when we get the mono track there's no guarantee it will sound correct. There's no reason a laserdisc mono track should sound better than the blu-ray mono track.

That comparison between the mono track and the 5.1 is embarrassing.

So it's cheaper, albeit slightly, to order from Diabolik anyway.
Shout has had issues with scratched discs. With Amazon it's simple to get a replacement shipped before I even send the other one back, in case the new one is worse. While Amazon always carries the likelihood of some exterior damage, my bad luck with scratched discs has to be factored in, and Amazon wins when it comes to ease of replacements. Though I do get tired of getting half the stuff I buy dinged up. If I could count on my discs not being scratched up, I'd absolutely go with Diabolik more often.

What do you mean? That's actually what it tends to be most the time...
